Your TV Source Roundup: ‘Promised Land’ Ordered To Series, Chloe Bennet Exits ‘Powerpuff’, ‘The Other Two’ Trailer, More ‘SpongeBob’, A ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Return, and More!

ABC has made calls on their final two pilots up for consideration for the coming season. Promised Land has been ordered to series. The series follows two Latinx families vying for wealth and power in California’s Sonoma Valley starring John Ortiz and Christina Ochoa. ABC also passed on Epic, a fairy tale drama from the creators of Once Upon a Time. ABC has no outstanding pilots left and has ordered 2 dramas, Queens and Promised Land and 3 comedies, The Wonder Years, Maggie and Abbott Elementary.

The CW’s Powerpuff pilot has lost one of their Powerpuff girls. Chloe Bennet, who played Blossom in the first pilot, has exited the Powerpuff pilot which is currently being retooled for series contention. Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault are still set to play Bubbles and Buttercup for the new pilot. 

The Other Two returns with season 2 Thursday August 26 on HBO Max. Episodes will roll out two per week. We have our look at the trailer for the upcoming season. The first season aired on Comedy Central in 2019. 

Nickelodeon has ordered more episodes of their three Spongebob series. The original SpongeBob SquarePants series has received a 13 episode backorder on its current season. The Patrick Star Show also received a 13 episode backorder on its first season. Kamp Koral has received a 13 episode backorder on season one as well as a 13 episode season 2 order. 

Kate Burton is set to return for Grey’s Anatomy’s upcoming 18th season. No word yet on how she will make her return as her character died in season 3. This comes after season 17 featured many characters who had previously died on the show come to Meredith in a covid-19 induced dream state. Chances are, she will appear in a similar context. There is also no word yet if the upcoming season will be the final season.

Tituss Burgess has joined the cast of NBC’s upcoming Annie Live! musical event. Burgess will be playing Rooster Hannigan. The cast includes Taraji P. Henson as Miss Hannigan, Nicole Scherzinger as Grace Farrell and Harry Connick Jr. as Daddy Warbucks. It will air December 2 at 8 on NBC. 

Mike Richards is officially set to host Jeopardy! when it returns for its new season this fall. Also announced was Mayim Bialik as Jeopardy!’s primetime and spinoff series host. This includes the upcoming Jeopardy! National College Championship. The news comes after the series had guest hosts fill in for Alex Trebek following his death.
