Today’s ‘DC FanDome’ Highlights

Today was DC’s ultimate fan event, DC FanDome. The event consisted of news, trailers and panels surrounding some of the biggest TV, film, animated projects and video games surrounding the DC universe and beyond. Here are some of the highlights from the event.

TV:

Doom Patrol was renewed for season four at HBO Max. The current third season is at its halfway point and to celebrate, they released a new trailer for the second half of the season. 

HBO Max’s Titans has been renewed for a fourth season ahead of the season three finale this coming week. We got a first look at the finale episode. 

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad spinoff series Peacemaker has been given a premiere date on HBO Max. The series will kick off January 13. They also released a new teaser for the series.

The CW’s The Flash gave us a first look at Barry Allen’s newest suit upgrade for the upcoming eight season. The new season will kick off with a big event spanning the first five episodes titled “Armageddon”. The season premieres November 16.

The CW has another new DC series heading to the network at midseason. Naomi comes from Ava DuVernay and follows a young girl with energy based superpowers. We got a first look at footage from the series which features Superman. 

Supergirl is currently airing it’s final season on The CW. The event had a special farewell panel as a sendoff featuring Melissa Benoist, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Katie McGrath, Jesse Rath, Nicole Maines, Azie Tesfai, Julie Gonzalo, Staz Nair, Mehcad Brooks, Jeremy Jordan, Chris Wood, and Peta Sergeant.

We got a behind the scenes set tour for The CW’s Superman & Lois. 

The CW’s Stargirl is currently airing its second season and we got a sneak peak at the upcoming episode. The series is already renewed for a third season. 

A new trailer for the third season of Batwoman was released. The new season began this past week and will see an unlikely teamup. 

In honor of The CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow‘s upcoming 100th episode, DC released a clip highlighting 100 episodes in 100 seconds.

HBO Max’s upcoming four episode mini series DMZ is coming to HBO Max. We got our first look at the series from Ava DuVernay starring Rosario Dawson and Benjamin Bratt. The series is based on the comic series of the same name following a United States which is going through a civil war. 

Pennyworth has been renewed for season three and is moving from Epix to HBO Max. The first two seasons will make their debut on the streamer early next year. The ten episode third season will also get a second window on Epix. 

In honor of Smallville 20th anniversary celebration, Tom Welling, Michael Rosenbaum and several other surprise guests had a conversation looking back on the series and its legacy. 

Sweet Tooth star Christian Convery answered fan questions following the success of the Netflix series first season. It has been renewed for season two already. 

We got a first look at Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer in the upcoming Netflix The Sandman series. 

Animated

Young Justice is returning for an all new season on HBO Max. Young Justice: Phantoms will premiere on the streamer October 21. As a surprise, the first two episodes of the season are streaming now!

Season three of Harley Quinn is in production and we got a first teaser for the upcoming new season which will air in 2022. 

The three episode animated series Aquaman: King of Atlantis is currently airing on HBO Max. A sneak peek clip and the upcoming second season was released. 

Cartoon Network’s Teen Titans Go! showed off clips from two upcoming projects. The first is a five part series titled Teen Titans Go! Doom Patrol coming soon where we see Beast Boy hanging out with the Doom Patrol. The second clip showed off the first look at the upcoming Teen Titans Go! and DC Super Hero Girls crossover movie event. There will also be a special episode celebrating Wonder Woman’s 80 anniversary. The first six seasons of Teen Titans Go! are now available to stream on HBO Max. 

Along with the DC Super Hero Girls crossover movie with Teen Titans Go!, we also got a first look at The Joker appearing on the series as a teen. We’ve met other villains and Harley Quinn shows up often on the series, but it will be the first time The Joker makes an appearance. 

Cartoon Network’s newest preschool focused block called Cartoonito will air a new series called Batwheels. We got a teaser for the new series. 

Catwoman: Hunted is a new animated movie coming February 8, 2022. Catwoman’s attempt to steal a priceless jewel puts her squarely in the crosshairs of both a powerful consortium of villains and the ever-resourceful Interpol, not to mention Batwoman. It might just be enough to contain her. Or not.

Other animated projects coming include Green Lantern: Beware My Power, Battle of the Super Sons, and a new Constantine short starring Matt Ryan. 

DC League of Super-Pets is an upcoming animated movie starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart as Krypto the Superdog and Ace the Bat-Hound. A teaser trailer was released for the film coming May 20, 2022. 

Films

We got a new trailer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The movie stars Robert Pattinson in the dual role of Gotham City’s vigilante detective and his alter ego, reclusive billionaire Bruce Wayne. The much anticipated film also stars Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Jayme Lawson, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell.

We got a first look teaser trailer for Black Adam. Dwayne Johnson stars along with Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz

The Flash film is coming in 2022 and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, Ben Affleck as Batman, and Michael Keaton. Sasha Calle will also make her first appearance as Supergirl. We got a teaser trailer for the movie. 

The Aquaman followup film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is coming December 16, 2022. We got a look at the behind the scenes of the film.

Zachary Levi returns for the Shazam! sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods in 2023. A behind the scenes clip was released. 

We got a first look at concept art for the upcoming Batgirl and Blue Beetle projects. 

Video Games:

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2022. A new trailer was released for the game.

Gotham Knights – Official Court of Owls is an open world RPG featuring characters like Batgirl, Nightwing, RedHood, and Robin. The trailer was released today.
