Freevee’s High School premieres October 14 with the first four episodes. The coming of age series is based on the memoir by Tegan and Sara Quin. The series is a story about finding your own identity – a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimic your own. Told through a backdrop of ’90s grunge and rave culture, the series weaves between parallel and discordant memories of twin sisters growing up down the hall from one another.
Chad and JT Go Deep premieres on Netflix August 23. Stoke Lords, Chad Kroeger and JT Parr, take their activism to the streets of Southern California to spread awareness on important issues. But when one of their causes accidentally leads to their cancellation, they use their activism to win back the good graces and trust of the culture.
MTV’s Teen Mom: The Next Chapter premieres September 6. The new series is a reimagining of the iconic Teen Mom franchise that unites the casts of Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2. Netflix has renewed Love, Death + Robots for a fourth volume. Season three saw terror, imagination and beauty combine in nine episodes which stretched from uncovering an ancient evil to a comedic apocalypse, telling startling short stories of fantasy, horror and science-fiction with trademark wit and visual invention.
Apple TV+’s new series Lessons in Chemistry will premiere in 2023. The series stars Brie Larson, Lewis Pullman, Aja Naomi King, Stephanie Koenig, Patrick Walker, Thomas Mann, Kevin Sussman and Beau Bridges. The series is based on the book of the same name by Bonnie Garmus. Set in the early 1950s, the series follows Elizabeth Zott, whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society deeming that women belong in the domestic sphere, not the professional one. When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone and fired from her lab, she musters the ingenuity only a single mother has. She accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives – and the men who are suddenly listening – a lot more than recipes… all the while craving a return to her true love: science.
Prime Video’s new series Jungle premieres September 30. The six episode series follows the connected lives of several strangers, each facing their own struggle, viewed through the prism of UK rap and drill music, and gives a perspective on an often-unseen world. Frequently misunderstood, it’s a world where one law governs everything: only the strongest will survive. As the strangers’ worlds begin to unravel around them, they come to the realization that every action, no matter how small, has a consequence. The series will be told through a unique blend of music and dialogue, working alongside creatively ambitious cinematography and design to create a tilted, timeless version of today’s London.
Haus of Vicious will premiere on BET August 17. The eight episode series stars Tami Roman as a fashion designer who deals with family issues, personal traumas and tries to rise up from it all.
Lucy Liu has joined the cast of Netflix’s limited series A Man In Full. She joins Jeff Daniels, Diane Lane, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Tom Pelphrey, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill, and Chanté Adams. The eight episode series is based on the book of the same name by Tom Wolfe.
Camilla Belle and Gus Halper have joined the cast of NBC’s Law & Order: Organized Crime. They join recently added Rick Gonzalez and Brent Antonello in the series starring Christopher Meloni.
Rex Linn has joined the cast of ABC’s Big Sky. He joins Reba McEntire, who he is in a relationship with in real life. He will portray the husband of Reba’s character.
Jamie Neumann and Amy Darton will recur on AMC’s Invitation to a Bonfire. The series is based on the book by Adrienne Celt. They join Tatiana Maslany, Freya Mavor, Pilou Asbaek and Ngozi Anyanwu.
Jon Batiste is leaving The Late Show With Stephen Colbert as bandleader after seven seasons. Louis Cato will take over in season eight as Batiste exits to pursue other interests.
ABC is set to air a marathon of fan favorite episodes of Abbott Elementary. The episodes set to air August 16 include “Pilot”, “Work Family”, “Step Class”, and “Desking”.
