Peacock has renewed Based on a True Story for a second season. The series is a satire of the true crime genre with elements that are loosely inspired by true events. Season one is about Ava and her husband Nathan, a down-on-their-luck couple, whose lives collide with an infamous serial killer terrorizing Los Angeles and seize a unique opportunity to capitalize on America’s obsession with true crime by making a podcast with the killer. The first season starred Kaley Cuoco, Chris Messina, Tom Bateman, Priscilla Quintana, and Liana Liberato. 

The live action Yu Yu Hakusho series will premiere on Netflix December 14. The original manga by the legendary Yoshihiro Togashi made waves when it was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump for four years from 1990. The series breathes new life into the story, and fans old and new can expect to encounter their favorite characters in ways that have never been seen before. 

Melissa McBride is set to reprise her fan-favorite role as Carol Peletier in the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon. She will return as a series regular in the second season which will be titled The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol. It will premiere in 2024. 

AMC’s The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live  will premiere in February 2024. Joining Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, and Lesley-Ann Brandt are Pollyanna McIntosh returning as Jadis, Terry O’Quinn and Matt Jeffries. 

The final six episodes of Fear The Walking Dead premiere October 22 on AMC.

The English dub of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will premiere October 13 on Crunchyroll with the first four episodes. NBCUniversal is looking to develop a Suits series set in the same universe. Series creator Aaron Korsh would develop the series potentially to be set in Los Angeles. 

The CW has ordered two new scripted series Wild Cards and Sight Unseen for 2024. Wild Cards is a coproduction with Canada’s CBC while Sight Unseen is a co production with Canada’s CTV. Wild Cards is a crime-solving procedural with a comedic twist that follows the unlikely duo of a gruff, sardonic cop and a spirited, clever con woman. Sight Unseen follows Tess Avery, a top homicide detective who is forced to quit the job she loves after nearly killing her partner and being diagnosed as clinically blind. 

Fox has renewed MasterChef Junior for a ninth season. Tilly Ramsay will join her father Gordon Ramsay as a judge along with Aarón Sánchez and Daphne Oz. The series follows young home cooks between the ages of 8 and 13 who compete in a series of challenges to win the title of America’s next MasterChef Junior, taking home a trophy and $100,000 in prize money. 

The Daily Show has set guest hosts for the coming weeks on Comedy Central. Michael Kosta will host the week of October 16. Desus Nice will host the week of October 23. South American guinea pigs. The network also renewed YOLO for a third season titled YOLO: Rainbow Trinity which will follow a pair of Australian best friends through absurd and fantastical adventures. Season two of Smiling Friends will premiere in 2024. Season 12 of Aqua Teen Hunger Force is coming soon. Season 7 of Rick and Morty will premiere October 15. The cold opening for the premiere episode was shown during the panel.
