It looks like controversy and tragedy brought in the ratings for CBS’ The Young and the Restless. Daytime’s #1 drama for 24 years, The Young and the Restless delivered its largest weekly audience since last February, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending October 20.
So what does that mean? It means The Young and the Restless’ ratings are UP. The soap averaged 4.76 million viewers, its biggest since the week ending February 10, 2013. In the all-important female demographics, Y&R averaged 1.9/12 in women 25-54 and 1.3 in women 18-49, ranking as the #1 program in daytime in those categories.
The Young and the Restless wasn’t the only CBS series to see growth. All of CBS Daytime posted gains in total viewers and key demos. The Bold and the Beautiful saw an 8 percent increase in total viewers, rising to 3.65 million. B&B also saw double digit increases in women 25-54 (up 15 percent) and women 18-49 (up 38 percent), registering a 1.5/09 and 1.1/07, respectively.
Viewership for The Talk increased by 3 percent to 2.67 million viewers; 17 percent in women 18-49 for a 0.7/04 and 33 percent in women 18-34 for a 0.4/3 rating.
The Price is Right 1 posted increases of +1% in viewers (4.56m from 4.53m), +8% in women 25-54 (1.3/08 from 1.2/08) and +13% in women 18-49 (0.9/06 from 0.8/06) from last week. Let’s Make a Deal 1 was up +13% in women 25-54 (0.9/06 from 0.8/06), +17% in women 18-49 (0.7/05 from 0.6/04) and +50% in women 18-34 (0.6/05 from 0.4/04). Let’s Make a Deal 2 was up +1% in viewers (3.26m from 3.23m), +11% in women 25-54 (1.0/07 from 0.9/06), +33% in women 18-49 (0.8/06 from 0.6/05) and +20% in women 18-34 (0.6/05 from 0.5/04).
I don’t like the Delia storyline but would never stop watching the best soap on tv over it.
Maybe I’m missing something, but didn’t they basically get back viewers who left week before? Wk ending 9/27, ratings were 4.73K. Hopefully some of the ‘catch up’ is in key demos.
