Paramount+ has renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for a fifth and final season. The renewal comes ahead of the upcoming third season, premiering July 17. The final season will consist of six episodes.
Netflix has renewed My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman for two additional seasons. The sixth season will premiere later this year. Combining humor, curiosity and in-depth conversations with extraordinary people, the series has Letterman back in the host’s chair, following a 33-year reign in late night.
Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varla and Adam Young have joined the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for its upcoming third season, which recently began filming at the series’ new production home at Shepperton Studios in the UK. Richardson will be a series regular, and Varla and Young will appear in recurring roles.
At this year’s Annecy Festival, Adult Swim revealed a bunch of forthcoming projects. Rebecca Sugar (Steven Universe), Ian Jones-Quartey (OK K.O.!), Patrick McHale (Over the Garden Wall), and Pendleton Ward (Adventure Time) are reuniting for a one-of-a-kind animated event so mysterious, even they don’t know what it’s about. Adult Swim’s The Elephant is an animated special where one team is responsible for one of three acts without any knowledge of what the others are making. With Sugar and Jones-Quartey working as a duo and McHale and Ward overseeing their own separate parts, The Elephant is guided by “game masters” Jack Pendarvis and Kent Osborne for a storytelling experiment that unfolds as a collaborative surprise, ultimately merging into a single, unexpected narrative. Married to the animated special will be a behind the scenes documentary, showing the unconventional situation in which the directors were operating. Coming to Adult Swim, The Elephant promises to be a truly original experience – not just for audiences, but for the creators themselves. Adult animated series Keeping Up With The Joneses follows the Newberry family as they try to “keep up” with their staggeringly wealthy Dallas neighbors – including the one next door, Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Adult Swim and Cartoon Network Studios are in development for Heist_Safari from celebrated creator and director Genndy Tartakovsky. The series tells the story of three Frog brothers robbing a bank. Adult Swim has officially renewed the high-octane anime Ninja Kamui for two additional seasons. The next season, Ninja Kamui Season Two: Red Vendetta, will follow Higan as he uncovers a new conspiracy of cataclysmic proportions. New series Women Wearing Shoulder Pads will premiere August 17 on Adult Swim. The stop-motion series follows Marioneta, a proud wealthy Spaniard living in 1980s Quito, Ecuador. There she encounters a diverse group of eccentric and ambitious women navigating the complicated worlds of love, family, and cuys. Featuring an all-woman cast, the series is produced entirely in Spanish with English subtitles.

Hanna Barbera Studios Europe has begun development on Hit Squad, a new adult animated series inspired by the work of visionary British producer Gerry Anderson. The series is an espionage action-comedy. Set in 1990s London, the series follows an international team of talented spies hellbent on putting death before dishonour as they battle the murky world of hidden foes and dangerous villains. This full puppet show is next generation Supermarionation for an adult audience.
The History Channel has ordered The Bible Revealed. The ambitious nonfiction event series revisits and reinterprets some of the most iconic stories ever told. Through expert commentary from renowned scholars and premiere theologians, the series explores the foundational biblical events – such as the Great Flood, the Ten Plagues, and the Garden of Eden – through theological tradition, rigorous scientific inquiry and cultural resonance to deepen understanding of a book that has shaped so much of human history.
NBC and Macy’s light up the sky with America’s largest and most iconic fireworks display at the 49th annual “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks.” The star-studded event, hosted by Academy Award-winning actress, singer and dancer Ariana DeBose, will feature dazzling fireworks, musical performances and appearances by special guests, will air live Friday, July 4 (8-10 p.m. ET) on NBC and simulcast live on Peacock. Telemundo’s telecast will air from 9-10 p.m. An hourlong encore presentation of the show will air at 10 p.m. on NBC. Jonas Brothers, Eric Church, Lenny Kravitz, Ava Max, Keke Palmer, and Trisha Yearwood will take the stage ahead of Macy’s breathtaking fireworks display against the New York City backdrop. The 49th edition of the nation’s largest Independence Day celebration will fire more than 80,000 shells, 30 vibrant colors and awe-inspiring effects, including state-of-the-art projection mapping on the Brooklyn Bridge. The eye-catching pyrotechnics will be set to a musical score produced by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and James Poyser, accompanied by a live performance from DeBose. Inspired by the enduring spirit of America, the 25-minute musical score will celebrate themes of community, resiliency and shared connection. The 49th edition of the “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks” will fire from the iconic Brooklyn Bridge and four barges positioned on the lower East River in the Seaport District, providing miles of prime public viewing.

NBC will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Jaws in a three-hour airing with a special introduction from Director Steven Spielberg on June 20. Additionally, on June 15, Peacock will start streaming Jaws exclusively through July 14. Peacock will feature a dedicated Jaws collection, featuring all four films from the franchise, along with Spielberg’s introduction to the original film.
ESPN announced an update to its 2025 Sunday Night Baseball Presented by Capital One schedule. On June 29, the American League-leading Detroit Tigers will host the Minnesota Twins at 7 p.m. ET. The Tigers and Twins are currently in first place and second place, respectively, in the American League Central. Karl Ravech, the voice of Sunday Night Baseball, will call the action with analyst Eduardo Pérez, analyst and five-time World Series Champion David Cone, and reporter Buster Olney.

Prime Video has renewed Surf Girls for a second season. The five-part second season – titled Surf Girls: International – will premiere later this summer. The series follows five up-and-coming female surfers representing their home countries as they travel the world competing in the Challenger Series. This season will feature the stories of both new and returning athletes who are forging a path for themselves in the world of female surfing, including, native Hawaiian and breakout star of Season One, Ewe Wong; a young competitor with a family history in surfing, who continues to break down barriers for female surfers in her home country of Brazil in Sophia Medina; the highly-motivated Portuguese sensation, who will stop at nothing to keep grinding and learning, Kika Veselko; Jessie Van Niekrek of South Africa, whose infectious energy keeps her going after she and her parents sacrificed everything to pursue her passion; and 2024 Olympian Sol Aguirre of Peru as she focuses on improving her mental approach to the sport she loves. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+ premieres July 21 on Disney Jr. Episodes will stream next day on Disney+. Incorporating memorable components like the Mousekedoer, Mouseketools and Toodles, the series introduces the new handy helping friend Little Helper and Duffy the Disney Bear, who will make surprise appearances. Other “plussed up” elements include the expansion of the Clubhouse with the Laughing Loft, a hilarious hangout zone, and the Wacky Tube, which gets Mickey and pals where they need to go in fun and silly ways. Minnie, Daisy, Donald and Goofy will also each get their own personalized clubhouses, which will be revealed throughout the series.
