Paramount+ has renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for a fifth and final season. The renewal comes ahead of the upcoming third season, premiering July 17. The final season will consist of six episodes.
Netflix has renewed My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman for two additional seasons. The sixth season will premiere later this year. Combining humor, curiosity and in-depth conversations with extraordinary people, the series has Letterman back in the host’s chair, following a 33-year reign in late night.
Andrew Richardson, Zubin Varla and Adam Young have joined the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for its upcoming third season, which recently began filming at the series’ new production home at Shepperton Studios in the UK. Richardson will be a series regular, and Varla and Young will appear in recurring roles.
At this year’s Annecy Festival, Adult Swim revealed a bunch of forthcoming projects. Rebecca Sugar (Steven Universe), Ian Jones-Quartey (OK K.O.!), Patrick McHale (Over the Garden Wall), and Pendleton Ward (Adventure Time) are reuniting for a one-of-a-kind animated event so mysterious, even they don’t know what it’s about. Adult Swim’s The Elephant is an animated special where one team is responsible for one of three acts without any knowledge of what the others are making. With Sugar and Jones-Quartey working as a duo and McHale and Ward overseeing their own separate parts, The Elephant is guided by “game masters” Jack Pendarvis and Kent Osborne for a storytelling experiment that unfolds as a collaborative surprise, ultimately merging into a single, unexpected narrative. Married to the animated special will be a behind the scenes documentary, showing the unconventional situation in which the directors were operating. Coming to Adult Swim, The Elephant promises to be a truly original experience – not just for audiences, but for the creators themselves. Adult animated series Keeping Up With The Joneses follows the Newberry family as they try to “keep up” with their staggeringly wealthy Dallas neighbors – including the one next door, Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Adult Swim and Cartoon Network Studios are in development for Heist_Safari from celebrated creator and director Genndy Tartakovsky. The series tells the story of three Frog brothers robbing a bank. Adult Swim has officially renewed the high-octane anime Ninja Kamui for two additional seasons. The next season, Ninja Kamui Season Two: Red Vendetta, will follow Higan as he uncovers a new conspiracy of cataclysmic proportions. New series Women Wearing Shoulder Pads will premiere August 17 on Adult Swim. The stop-motion series follows Marioneta, a proud wealthy Spaniard living in 1980s Quito, Ecuador. There she encounters a diverse group of eccentric and ambitious women navigating the complicated worlds of love, family, and cuys. Featuring an all-woman cast, the series is produced entirely in Spanish with English subtitles.

Hanna Barbera Studios Europe has begun development on Hit Squad, a new adult animated series inspired by the work of visionary British producer Gerry Anderson. The series is an espionage action-comedy. Set in 1990s London, the series follows an international team of talented spies hellbent on putting death before dishonour as they battle the murky world of hidden foes and dangerous villains. This full puppet show is next generation Supermarionation for an adult audience.

NBC will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Jaws in a three-hour airing with a special introduction from Director Steven Spielberg on June 20. Additionally, on June 15, Peacock will start streaming Jaws exclusively through July 14. Peacock will feature a dedicated Jaws collection, featuring all four films from the franchise, along with Spielberg’s introduction to the original film.
ESPN announced an update to its 2025 Sunday Night Baseball Presented by Capital One schedule. On June 29, the American League-leading Detroit Tigers will host the Minnesota Twins at 7 p.m. ET. The Tigers and Twins are currently in first place and second place, respectively, in the American League Central. Karl Ravech, the voice of Sunday Night Baseball, will call the action with analyst Eduardo Pérez, analyst and five-time World Series Champion David Cone, and reporter Buster Olney.
