ABC has picked up its Scrubs reboot series. Joining Zach Braff will be fellow original stars Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke. Talks are ongoing with other original cast members. The series will likely air in midseason.
Netflix has renewed Virgin River for an eighth season. The series follows nurse practitioner Mel Monroe as she moves from the big city to the picturesque titular Northern California town — and falls in love with rough-around-the-edges bartender Jack Sheridan. The news comes as production on season seven has wrapped.
The Paper will premiere on Peacock September 4. The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch in The Office find a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it. The series stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, and Oscar Nuñez. Season fourteen of King of the Hill premieres August 4 on hulu. The show picks up several years after we last saw the Hill family. After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane. Ronny Chieng will take over the role of Khan Souphanousinphone, originally voiced by Toby Huss. Huss will now take over the role of Dale Gribble, originally voiced by Johnny Hardwick. Hardwick passed away, only able to record a handful of episodes.

Chief of War premieres August 1 on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes. Set amid the scenic backdrop of the islands of Hawai’i, the nine-episode series, based on true events, follows warrior Ka’iana, portrayed by Jason Momoa, as he tries to unify the islands before Western colonization in the late 18th century. Told from an indigenous perspective, the series is a passion project for creators Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, who share native Hawaiian heritage. The series features a predominantly Polynesian cast led by Momoa alongside Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, newcomer Kaina Makua, Moses Goods, Siua Ikale’o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, Te Kohe Tuhaka and Benjamin Hoetjes.

Apple TV+ has renewed Murderbot for a second season. Based on the first novella in Martha Wells’ book series, season one is a sci-fi thriller/comedy about a self-hacking security construct who is horrified by human emotion yet drawn to its vulnerable clients. Played by Alexander Skarsgård, Murderbot must hide its free will and complete a dangerous assignment when all it really wants is to be left alone to watch futuristic soap operas and figure out its place in the universe.
The Great Food Truck Race premieres August 3 on Food Network. The series is back for another epic road trip and this season host Tyler Florence pushes nine talented teams to the culinary limit as they road trip up the Atlantic coast in pursuit of food truck glory and a $50,000 grand prize. HBO has ordered an untitled half-hour sketch comedy limited series from Larry David, produced by Higher Ground. ESPN announced an update to its 2025 Sunday Night Baseball Presented by Capital One schedule. On July 27, the New York Mets will visit the San Francisco Giants at 7 p.m. ET. Karl Ravech, the voice of Sunday Night Baseball, will call the action with analyst Eduardo Pérez, analyst and five-time World Series Champion David Cone and reporter Buster Olney.
AMC Networks returns to Comic-Con International in San Diego, CA with a dynamic lineup of fan-favorite series panels and a not-to-be-missed Shudder activation based on the hit film Clown In A Cornfield, which makes its Shudder and AMC+ streaming debut on August 8, among other activities. Panels include a return to Hall H for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, featuring an exclusive first-look at the official trailer from the third season, premiering Sunday, September 7 on AMC and AMC+; and Ballroom 20 panels for two series in AMC Networks’ Anne Rice Immortal Universe, including the new season of the critically acclaimed Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, which began production in Toronto last month, and the newest series, Anne Rice’s Talamasca, premiering in October on AMC and AMC+.
