Last week on “Emily Owens, M.D.,” Emily (Mamie Gummer) came to the realization that Will (Justin Hartley) must have feelings for her since he seemed to be jealous seeing her on a date with another guy. But can she find a way to prove it?

In “Emily and the Social Experiment,” Emily turns to Tyra (Kelly McCreary) for help proving her theory. Emily wants to use scientific methods and Tyra offers to teach her how to flirt so she can see if Will gets jealous again. Her target is the returning Dr. A.J. Aquino (guest star J.R. Ramirez), who has returned to Denver Memorial after a long absence and has a past with Dr. Bandari (Necar Zadegan) that the chief insists be resolved before he can officially rejoin the staff.
Meanwhile, Emily is tasked with treating a patient who claims to be a psychic and is convinced that her tarot cards have predicted her own impending death. Cassandra (Aja Naomi King) and Dr. Bandari treat a patient who needs a lung transplant and Micah (Michael Rady) discovers a new medical issue, forcing the patient to have to make a tough decision. The episode was directed by Bharat Nalluri and written by John C. Kelley.
