ABC’s soapy fashion drama adds to its cast.

Twilight star Ashley Greene has been cast in the pilot for ABC’s fashion-oriented soap opera Americana. Greene will play Alice (also the name of her Twilight character), a young designer whose arrival shakes the famed Soulter clan and their company to its core.

Greene joins Anthony LaPaglia, Emilie de Raven, Natalie Mendoza and Ken Olin, cast earlier this month. Americana, from ABC Studios and Mark Gordon Co., is helmed by North Country‘s Michael Seitzman, who also serves as executive producer alongside Mark Gordon (Grey’s Anatomy) and Nick Pepper.  Phillip Noyce will direct the pilot.

Rounding out the cast…

Brothers and Sisters vet Ken Olin will play Martin, the owner of a manufacturing company whose daughter is also a designer for the company.  For four seasons Olin played David Caplan on B&S, which he also executive produced.

Anthony LaPaglia (Without a Trace) plays main character Robert Soulter, an iconic and legendary fashion designer who serves as head of his family’s business, Americana.  Robert’s family and company is turned upside down with the arrival of a young designer (which is Alice).

Emilie de Raven (Roswell, Lost) plays Francesca Soulter, Robert’s “chic and outgoing” daughter. She heads up Americana’s events department and believes she should be the heir apparent.  Unfortunately for her, her father believes otherwise – a position he may regret.

Natalie Mendoza (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) will play Wendy, a beautiful thirty-something diva who’s beauty is only rivaled by her bitchiness.

My POV: This is like a primetime version of The Bold and the Beautiful! The casting is great and I’m intrigued at how Alice will impact this family. I’m thinking illegitimate daughter?
