Victorious star Avan Jogia has been cast as the lead in ABC Family’s new drama pilot Socio.

“Socio” is the network’s newest one-hour drama from executive producer Gavin Polone (Jane By Design, Gilmore Girls, Curb Your Enthusiasm). Adam Milch (Greek) wrote the pilot and will co-produce with Polone. The Hollywood Reporter says the 20 year old star will play the lead character Danny, described as likable, brash, sexy and charismatic teen…who also happens to be a convicted murderer.

The series centers on a charismatic 16-year-old alleged sociopath who recently reconnected with his two female best friends from childhood, and who becomes the prime suspect when a fellow student is murdered. The suspicion is warranted considering Danny’s murderous past. Why did Danny kill his aunt then? Over the course of the season you’ll find out just what led to her death and if he’s actually guilty of murdering this student.

For three years Jogia starred opposite Victoria Justice on Nickelodeon’s Victorious where he played popular actor Beck Oliver. His other credits include Spectacular, Caprica and iCarly.
