All My Children axes two contract cast members.
All My Children Axes Two Chandlers
Soap Opera Digest is reporting the upcoming departures of All My Children’s Adam Mayfield (Scott Chandler) and Brittany Allen (Marissa Tasker Chandler). Both actors joined the cast of AMC in 2009 and are expected to air into October, though no final airdate is available at this time. What is known is that Marissa makes a major move against JR, who makes a major move against Scott in retaliation.
According to SOD’s source at AMC, the actors’ exit is a result of the show’s decision to take the characters in a different direction. There’s speculation that the characters will eventually be recast. Former As the World Turns and Guiding Light star Daniel Cosgrove (Chris, ATWT; Bill, GL) previously portrayed Scott from 1996 – 1998.
Is Irizarry In or Out?
That is the million dollar question we all want the answer to. Vincent Irizarry’s character, the dastardly devious Dr. David Hayward, was presumably killed off in All My Children’s new murder mystery. Irrizary’s initial comments indicated that he was still in negotiations with AMC and if he returned “will be in greater part because of this wonderful outpouring from all of you who love the show and David as much as I do.” He later revised his statement, calling reports of David’s demise and his contract negotiations “not authorized and premature.”
ABC stands firm in their original statement, “We are sorry to lose Vincent, but David’s death was storyline-dictated and the payoff of this story will reveal many unexpected twists and plot developments.” Many fans have held out hope that this is all a ruse to drum up interest in AMC’s murder mystery, but all signs are pointing to the Emmy winner’s (at this time) permanent exit.
Additional Casting News
Jeff Phillips (Hart, GL) will air for six episodes to investigate the murder of Dr. David Hayward. He will mainly interact with Ryan and Greenlee (Cameron Mathison and Rebecca Budig). Phillips originated the role of Hart Jessup on Guiding Light in 1991.
