The night’s eventual winner for Outstanding Lead Actress was Heather Tom (Katie, B&B), who made Emmy history last year by being the first actress to win in all acting categories. How was this year’s nomination different than previous ones? Tom says, “Every time I get a nomination for B&B, I feel very happy because I love working on the show so much and I love that people are recognizing our show. I am here to support daytime and have a good time.”
The actress says her strategy for selecting Emmy reels is simple. “I always like to tell a story with my clips so that even if you don’t watch the show, you’ll still understand what is going on. I feel like the episode told a good story and had a good arc and ended in a powerful place so that is how I picked it.”
Tom says fans have so much to look forward to this summer for Katie. “There is a huge, explosive secret that everyone knows except for Katie – in that Brooke slept with her husband – and eventually of course Katie is going to find that out and all hell is going to break loose.”
