All My Children’s Vincent Irizarry (David) spoke highly of his show’s transition to the web. Many of the notable differences between the broadcast network’s version and The OnLine Network’s version lies within the production. “The difference really is the quality. [AMC] looks better than ever and I think the HD cameras we are using [now] are better than [the ones] before. The makeup, the hair, the lighting look fantastic.”

Irizarry admits the new pacing of the show means it’s more important than ever to keep up. “We are moving a lot faster than when we were on network. A lot of the daytime shows you are able to miss one or two a week and they have drop off in viewership. Our shows move very quickly and if you miss an episode you can miss something very important.”

Though All My Children now airs exclusively online, they continue to be embraced by the Daytime Emmys. “We are still a part of the daytime community. The audience that is watching our shows are the audience watching their shows. I was excited to be invited to the party and am excited to be here presenting tonight.”

The emotional turmoil his alter ego has suffered after losing so many children has weighed on Irizarry an actor in the past, but hopes there’s light at the end of that dark tunnel for the dastardly doctor. “[It is] especially hard when you have to play the death of a baby. I remember years ago, David and Anna had Leora and she died in infancy. It was three months of grieving. After two months, we went to [producer] Jean Dadario-Burke and asked if this was entertaining anymore because it was brutal for us and brutal for the audience. Hopefully he finds out this child with Cara is alive.”
