Forgive me father, for I have sinned could easily be the tagline for The Originals. Between the Original family and Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), there have been centuries or murder and mayhem to atone for and perhaps that is why there is a priest coming to the new series.

Supernatural’s Todd Stashwick has been cast for the recurring role of Father Kieran, a tortured priest with a dark past, the show’s executive producer Julie Plec told EW.com, which broke the casting news earlier tonight.

Plec went on to say that the priest was “once a powerful and pragmatic diplomat between the humans and the various supernatural fractions in New Orleans. He returns home looking for answers about a personal tragedy, but finds a very different landscape than when he left.”

But Father Kieran will not be the only ‘fatherly’ type to show up. Sebastian Roche (Supernatural, General Hospital) will be reprising his Vampire Diaries role as Mikael in an early episode of the series.

Considering Klaus (Joseph Morgan) sent his father to a fiery grave, we’re guessing he’ll only be there in flashback form, but we’re excited anyway.

The Originals premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9/8c on The CW.
