Enemies Become Frenemies For the Ultimate Con
Kate and Sami’s rivalry is legendary. In fact, it’s probably Alison Sweeney’s most popular on-screen relationship ever. In recent years, the icy relationship between these two alpha females had begun to thaw a bit, partly due to Sami moving on from Kate’s precious sons; and the other as a result of their mutual love for Will. This year, these two put together one of the greatest cons in recent DAYS history when they stole control DiMera Enterprises from EJ and Stefano. For Sami, destroying EJ was about his betrayal of their love with babysitter Abigail and obliterating her heart. For Kate, it was payback for years of suffering at Stefano’s hands, most recently his attempt to murder Rafe.
The women found common ground in their hate for all things DiMera, and their struggles as strong women in a world of powerful men. Kate provided encouragement for Sami as she wavered in her plan, warning her one-time rival that there will always be someone younger and prettier ready to take her place. It was a harsh but true statement that strengthened Sami’s resolve.
Even with their alliance, there was still an undercurrent of the past. Kate finagled her way into becoming co-CEO of DiMera Enterprises at a crucial board meeting, something that blindsided Sami, but Sami ultimately agreed to in order to complete their plan. Little by little, they systematically dismantled EJ and Stefano’s prized possessions and favorite divisions, all for revenge. Their alliance was short-lived, as Sami eventually forgave EJ for his transgressions and Kate found herself close to being on the outside again. She struck up a new partnership with Chad in the hopes of eventually betraying Sami, but EJ’s untimely death changed all of that.
As Sami prepared to say goodbye to her loved ones in Salem, she couldn’t leave without a special goodbye from Kate. Sami and Kate made jokes about growing on each other like a bad haircut they’ve gotten used to.
“For 20 years, you gave me nothing but grief. And I hated you for it. But you taught me how to be tough. You taught me how to fight for myself,” Sami tells Kate.
“You’re welcome,” Kate replied.
It was a poignant ending for a near 20 year feud that brought a few tears to our eyes. Kate will always be Sami’s greatest love.
Actually the whole debacle regarding Sami and EJ in 2014 was bullshit. The storyline was insulting to all women regardless age, Sami was depicted heartless and unforgiving and the other as a slutty home wrecking slut with no morals. So I was supposed to believe that EJ DiMera who put a gun to his head, accepted a bullet in his head, would cheat on the love of his life Samantha because he couldn’t get some at home. I am so glad I am done with this shit show. James Scott and Alison Sweeney did me the biggest favour by leaving.
Considering young women have affairs with older men all the time, including those who will intentionally try to seduce men in relationships, it was a true statement — especially coming from someone who literally used to be a prostitute.
‘will always be someone younger and prettier ready to take her place’ a harsh and true statement ? Seriously ? First this Abby bugged eyes big nose was certainly not ‘prettier’ than Sami Brady..only in her delusional dreams..ugh. Secondly, wtf about any kind of ‘true’ statement ? Ugh..NO..it is not true in my book and thankfully where i live. People younger and ‘prettier’ doesn’t try to take other people’s lives, at least most of the time..they are not pathetic like that ..you know, they get their lives and leave lives of others ALONE ! The same for Sami Brady..younger folks doesn’t align themselves to steal Sami’s life..how creepy..the only one who did that was this Abby, and it was kind of a pattern since she tried to do it with Carrie (Sami’s sister) not so long ago.
What Kate said to Sami on this subject was innacurate and stupid. Get the program, please.
