10 Burning Questions from Days of our Lives‘ Flash Forward Trailer

Chad admits to Abigail he's been in contact with Stefano.

NBC’s Days of our Lives is going where no soap has ever gone before — a year into the future! During the soaps’ annual Day of Days fan event this past weekend, the winter preview for the flash forward was released and we could not be more excited.

Jumping a year into the future we find our heroes, heroines, and villains at very different places than where we last saw them in the year of our present existence 2019. As such, we had a lot of questions after viewing the promo so, after a suggestion from our editor, TV Source staff teamed up to create a list of ten burning questions that we need addressed during the time jump.

Before we begin, let us refresh with another look at the winter trailer!

Why Is Our King Without his Queen?

A queendom is not a home when the Queen cannot be found. Where was Marlena (Deidre Hall)? Salem’s Queen of Everything did not appear once in the promo and we are not okay. Is Marlena the “she” Princess Gina (Kristian Alfonso) is referring to when asking John (Drake Hogestyn) if he “misses her”? Why would John have to miss Marlena? As much as we enjoyed the appearance from Hattie (in jail with Eve), we need to know see Marlena to ensure Hattie isn’t doing something crazy – like trying to usurp the Queen’s life again.

Why Are the Men of Salem Emotional Wrecks?

All the men in Salem seem to be going through a hard time.  Ben (Robert Scott Wilson) is in jail and taking his answer out on a poor phone.  Justin (Wally Kurth) is having a breakdown.  Brady (Eric Martsolf) is crying in the arms of one of his many ex-girlfriends. Zander (Paul Telfer) is busting up office furniture. JJ (Casey Moss) is aiming a gun. Eli (Lamon Archey) looks like his whole world is over at the mention of his ex’s name.  John (Drake Hogestyn) looks like he lost his best friend. While this is a nice change from the days of weepy women, we cannot help but wonder why all our favorite heroes seem to be losing control of their emotions.

Will Brady and Kristen Get Their Happy Family?

We have this feeling deep inside our bones and it isn’t good. We love our Bristen, and with them finally finding common ground it looked like the future was theirs for the taking. At least it appears Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) gives birth to their baby, as we see them cradling a tiny baby girl…but later Brady is crying in Nicole’s arms. This leads us to believe something terrible has happened…but what? We have theory but only time will tell if we are correct. We know stars Stacy Haiduk and Eric Martsolf will bring the drama and break viewers’ souls into a million pieces.

Who Is the Corporate Ciara Brady?

Our favorite young heroine, Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) has made her way up the ranks of her family’s million-dollar company judging by the quick scene featuring Kiriakis tycoon Victor (John Aniston) telling her she is the future of the family. While obviously thrilled by this development (something the TV Source podcast routinely pitched), something was off with her behavior, especially since the next glimpse of Ciara shows her sneaking around someone’s office. Of course, we also cannot forget she is asking someone out for drinks to get to know them better. All signs are pointing to Ms. Brady plotting and planning something. Does it have to do with her beloved Ben who is sporting that orange jump suit once again? Maybe not, since they’re on the outs. What if she is on a mission for her mob connected grandfather?

Does Time and Heal Wounded Friendships?

The last time viewers saw former BFFs-turned-frenemies Abigail (Kate Mansi) and Gabi (Camila Banus), there was no love lost between the two. If their relationship had a status it would say “Hate That Bitch,” and with mutually good reasons. It seems a lot has changed, as it appears the DiMera spouses are cohabitating in the DiMera mansion. We can’t imagine they got there willingly, especially with Chad (Billy Flynn) living in the same space. Our curiosity is piqued by the women being housemates. We’re very much looking forward to how this works, and we hope there’s plenty of snarky moments.

What Happened to JJ Deveraux?

JJ Deveraux looks to be in a rough place come 2020, out in Salem looking like a strung out hobo in one scene and brandishing a gun in the next. Lest we remind you that the last time JJ pointed a gun at someone it didn’t go so well (we miss you Theo).  What happens to make JJ go from a clean-cut paramedic to the broken man in the promo? Is Hayley still in his life? Is this the consequence of his mother’s year-long coma? What are we missing?

How Did the Mighty Fall?

Allow us to channel our inner Phillip Kiriakis with this one – why is Kate waiting tables? We’ve been here, done that with her in the past and clearly we thought we were over that hump but alas, here we are again. Only this time instead of the Hudson Street Diner, Kate’s pulling shifts at the Brady Pub. Oh how the mighty former Mrs. Stefano DiMera has fallen.

Where, Oh Where, is William Horton?

Where is Will (Chandler Massey)? We did not see his face or hear his voice in this promo. Where did he go? Did he go away to be with Sami? One can only assume Will is the “him” Sonny (Freddie Smith) is referring to when he says “I miss him so much.” We will find out sooner than later the fate of fan favorite Will Horton, but we need to know now, now, now!

Who Is Evan?

If you wondered who the mysterious man was featured with Sonny and Ari, we know his name is Evan (Brock Kelly). What do we really know about the character? Well, he’s Rafe’s man-nanny, he’s hot and he seems to be spending a lot of time with Sonny Kiriakis. Does this Evan have something to do with Will being MIA in Sonny’s life? Is he a good guy or a bad guy? Does he have ties to Salem? So. Many. Questions!

What In the Budget — Are Those New Sets?

Who do we thank for this below-the-line budget increase? How wonderful was it to see a new set for Basic Black? Is there a new set for Titan coming? Eli got a new bedroom set right before the jump and we also saw a new restaurant. John and Marlena have their townhouse set back and Gina has a new lair. What other sets are in store for Salem? Are people finally going to conduct business in proper conference rooms instead of their bedrooms?

Lacey Lou
I’m a 30-something Pennsylvania girl living with her husband, who is not quite a soap opera hunk but he’ll do, in North Carolina where I blessed him with five beautiful babies. I am a consistent wine and Pepsi drinker who is fully aware of the fact I am more dependent on them than the air I need to breathe. When I’m not WiFi-ing and mothering, I’m working as a Nurse. In the very little free time that I have, I fangirl over soap operas, which I have been watching since the age of five when I caught my grandfather watching Days of our Lives with my grandmother. I owe my obsession to them and like to believe that they would be proud of some of my rants and raves and completely embarrassed by the rest of them.
