2021 Daytime Emmy Awards: ‘General Hospital’ Wins Best Soap; ‘Bold and Beautiful’ Star Jacqueline MacInnes Wood Wins Best Actress

The 48th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were held Friday, June 25, 2021 live on the CBS television network and Paramount Plus. Hosted by The Talk’s Sheryl Underwood, the ceremony was a celebration of the best of daytime including soap operas, talk shows, morning programs and more.

Presenters during the star-studded event included appearances by soap stars Bryton James, Michelle Stafford and Brytni Sarpi from The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives stars Deidre Hall, Jackée Harry and Robert Scott Wilson, General Hospital stars Donnell Turner, Kelly Thiebaud, Cynthia Watrosand Heather Tom from The Bold and the Beautiful.

Also presenting: Live with Kelly and Ryan’s Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest, Drew Barrymore, Bachelorette star turned Extra correspondent Rachel Lindsay, Giada De Laurentiis,  Gloria Estefan, Al Roker, Mario Lopez, Tamron Hall, ET‘s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner, Amy Robach, T.J. Holmes, Dr. Jennifer Ashton,

The ceremony paid tribute to late television staples Larry King, Regis Philbin and Alex Trebek, who passed away in the last year. They were honored by the likes of Kathie Lee Gifford, Ken Jeong, Martha Stewart and Robin Roberts.

Twenty-two categories including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Morning Show, Outstanding Culinary Host, Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show, Outstanding Actor and Actress in a Drama Series, plus many more were presented on the CBS broadcast.

Many additional categories and winners were announced prior to the show on social media including Outstanding Makeup, Outstanding Hairstyling, Outstanding Costume Design and many more.

This year, General Hospital earned the most nominations with 21, followed by The Young and the Restless and Days of Our Lives, which scored 11 each.
