The CW has canceled Kung Fu and The Winchesters. The cancellations come as the network shifts away from original programming to acquired series. Kung Fu aired for three seasons. The Winchesters was a spinoff of the long running series Supernatural and aired for one season.
Heels returns for season two on Starz July 28. The series is a story about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small-town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals, Jack Spade and Ace Spade, are at war over their late father’s legacy while working to find their identity and their individual versions of success. “Heel” is a common wrestling term used to describe the antagonist or villain in the ring, however, the line between hero and heel is much less clear for this sibling rivalry outside of the ring. Season two begins after a spectacular showing at the South Georgia State Fair, and the Duffy Wrestling League’s popularity is suddenly on the upswing. Hoping to seize the opportunity, Jack and his cohorts prepare for a possible business deal with a new streaming service that may propel them onto a national stage. But the past and its tragedies threaten to upset everything when Ace leaves Duffy and the Dome in his rearview, meanwhile rival promotion Florida Wrestling Dystopia’s vengeful frontman Gully comes calling.
Fox has renewed Next Level Chef for two more seasons. The series is the next evolution in cooking competitions, as Ramsay has designed a one-of-a-kind culinary gauntlet, set on an iconic stage like you’ve never seen. Over three stories high, each floor contains a stunningly different kitchen. From the glistening top floor to the challenging bottom of the basement, the ingredients match the environment, because Ramsay believes the true test of great chefs is not only what they can do in the best of circumstances, but what kind of magic they can create in the worst! The Great Food Truck Race returns for a new season titled The Great Food Truck Race: David vs. Goliath June 18 on Food Network. Hosted by Tyler Florence, nine teams from across the country with specialties ranging from Jamaican tacos to modern Pakistani street food to elevated vegan dishes must prove their culinary expertise, marketing savvy and selling skills in action-packed challenges to beat their rivals and stay in the race. Los Angeles has long led the food truck movement, and this season’s action takes place right in the center of the industry’s booming business. Kicking off with all nine teams showcasing a dish that defines their business, the race then hits the baseball field to serve Little League players and their families with a visit from LA Dodgers player Mookie Betts. Other challenges include using Chef Antonia Lofaso’s well-known restaurant dishes as inspiration for their own menus, creating social media content to draw crowds and cooking for guest judges Chef Jet Tila, Chef Joe Sasto and last season’s winner, Señoreata’s Evanice Holz. All the action culminates in a head-to-head finale where only one team is awarded a life-changing $50,000 grand prize.
The Walking Dead: Dead City premieres on AMC June 18. The Walking Dead spinoff series follows Maggie and Negan traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. The crumbling city is filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.
Season seven of Outlander premieres on Starz June 16. Season seven picks up from the harrowing events of the end of season six, with Jamie and Young Ian racing to rescue Claire before she’s tried and wrongfully convicted for the murder of Malva Christie. But their mission is complicated by the beginning of a geopolitical firestorm: The American Revolution has arrived. Season two of Foundation returns on Apple TV+ July 14. More than a century after the season one finale, tension mounts throughout the galaxy in season two. As the Cleons unravel, a vengeful queen plots to destroy Empire from within. Hari, Gaal, and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself. The monumental adaptation of “Foundation” chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.
Season three of iCarly premieres on Paramount+ June 1. Adulting continues to be complicated for Carly and her friends. Carly and Freddie struggle to redefine their relationship (#Creddie), Spencer seeks a return to his roots, and Harper’s reunion with an old rival leads to an unexpected outcome.
The second and final season of Human Resources premieres on Netflix June 9. The Big Mouth spin-off pulls back the curtain on the daily lives of the creatures – Hormone Monsters, Depression Kitties, Shame Wizards and many more – that help humans journey through every aspect of life from puberty to parenthood to the twilight years. It quickly becomes clear that though the protagonists are creatures, they have a lot of humanity themselves.
The CW has picked up Canadian series The Spencer Sisters. The crime solving drama series will premiere this fall. The series is a female-led, lighthearted procedural that follows mystery novelist Victoria Spencer and her daughter Darby Spencer who are mistaken as sisters as they tackle puzzling cases.
Onyx Collective has picked up Deli Boys to series. The ten episode series will stream on hulu. When their convenience store-magnate father suddenly dies, a pair of pampered Pakistani American brothers lose everything and are forced to reckon with their Baba’s secret life of crime as they attempt to take up his mantle in the underworld.
Season two of Killer Relationship with Faith Jenkins premieres May 28 on Oxygen. Former criminal prosecutor at the Manhattan District Attorney’s office Faith Jenkins breaks down all the gripping details of relationships gone deadly while highlighting the distressing warning signs that were overlooked. Some of the stories explored include a divorced woman whose quick foray back into the dating world to find love leads to her gruesome demise; a young woman whose brutal death at the hands of a loved one is only solved after a surprise appearance on national TV and an assist from a gaming device; and a vivacious single mother who is murdered in front of her two children after one of her many admirers just couldn’t let go.
Beyond Skinwalker Ranch premieres on The History Channel June 6. Utilizing a team of reputable professionals working alongside The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch veterans including ranch owner, Brandon Fugal, Principal Investigator and Chief Scientist, Erik Bard, and Astrophysicist, Engineer and Lead Scientist, Travis Taylor, the series explores other sites of unusual activity and “high strangeness” phenomena in an effort to discover if the activity documented on Skinwalker Ranch is not only real, but pervasive.
DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim will become co-anchors of GMA3. They join Dr. Jen Ashton in the Good Morning America series. A rotating group of hosts have filled in since T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach left the series. Elsewhere, Gio Benitez will join the weekend edition of GMA as a co-anchor.
In solidarity with the ongoing writers strike, Mayim Bialik has pulled out of the final week of filming Jeopardy! Ken Jennings will fill in for the final episodes of season 39.
The Olympic Games Paris 2024 are scheduled for July 26-Aug. 11, 2024. Every day, NBC will provide Olympic fans with at least nine hours of daytime coverage of the Summer Games’ most exciting events, including live finals coverage of swimming, gymnastics, track & field, and more. With Paris six hours ahead of the United States’ eastern time zone, the daytime takeover will feature that day’s most popular events live on NBC in the morning and afternoon. Paris 2024 will have more programming hours on the NBC broadcast network than any previous Olympics. Given the time difference and following live coverage all day, NBC will deliver an enhanced Olympics primetime show, providing three hours of edge-of-your-seat entertainment each night.
Nickelodeon and CBS Sports team up again with the NFL for the 2023 season. The 2023 football season will feature the Nickelodeon NFL Nickmas Game, a special slime-filled Christmas Day game tailored for kids and families on Monday, Dec. 25, at 1:00 PM, ET between the Las Vegas Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs, and a third season of Nick’s weekly NFL series, NFL Slimetime. CBS Sports’ presentation of the Christmas Day game will be broadcast on The CBS Television Network, and available to stream live on Paramount+ and on mobile with NFL+, while the special slime-filled presentation for family-viewing fun will air exclusively on Nickelodeon. NFL Slimetime, a weekly show, will return for a third season on Nickelodeon in September at the start of the football season, with episodes available to stream on Paramount+. Hosted by CBS Sports analyst and former NFL standout Nate Burleson and Nick star Young Dylan, the show will continue to feature Nick-ified highlights, expert advice and special guest appearances for kids and families to enjoy together.
The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Chandler premieres on ESPN and ESPN+ May 30. Former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor and No. 5 ranked lightweight contender Michael Chandler go head-to-head as coaches. The show will feature a dynamic cast consisting of both returning veterans and up and coming prospects in the men’s bantamweight (135 lbs.) and lightweight (155 lbs.) divisions, who have put everything else in their lives aside for the chance to pursue their UFC dreams.
FX’s The Full Monty premieres on hulu June 14 with all eight episodes. Taking place 25 years after the original British smash hit, the series follows the same band of brothers as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education and employment sectors. The comedy-drama will uncover what happened to the gang after they put their kit back on, exploring their brighter, sillier and more desperate moments. The Ride premieres on Prime Video May 30.
