The sixth and final season of Cobra Kai will premiere as a three part event. Part 1 of the fifteen episode season premieres July 18. Part two will premiere November 28. The finale event will premiere in 2025. Picking up with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai – the world championships of karate. 

We Are Lady Parts returns for season two May 30 on Peacock. In season two, we explore the interior lives of each of the women in more depth. Each of them facing new, existential challenges with all the silliness, pratfalls and banter of season one. The music is bigger too – more wild original tunes (penned by me and my siblings) and dare I say it, even better covers. The season overall asks the question of success. What is success? For a punk band – is fame, stadium shows and major record deals the answer?

Eric premieres May 30 on Netflix. Set in 1980s New York, Eric is a new emotional thriller from Abi Morgan following the desperate search of a father when his nine-year-old son disappears one morning on the way to school. Vincent, one of New York’s leading puppeteers and creator of the hugely popular children’s television show, ‘Good Day Sunshine,’ struggles to cope with the loss of his son, Edgar, becoming increasingly distressed and volatile. Full of self-loathing and guilt around Edgar’s disappearance, he clings to his son’s drawings of a blue monster puppet, ERIC, convinced that if he can get ERIC on TV then Edgar will come home. As Vincent’s progressively destructive behavior alienates his family, his work colleagues, and the detectives trying to help him, it’s Eric, a delusion of necessity, who becomes his only ally in the pursuit to bring his son home. 

Season two of The Great American Baking Show premieres May 24 on The Roku Channel. Hosts Zach Cherry & Casey Wilson welcome America’s best amateur bakers to the iconic white tent, where they’ll need to wow judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith to become the next Baking Show champion.

Thirst with Shay Mitchell premieres May 23 on Max. Shay Mitchell explores the world one drink at a time as she visits exotic locations, samples unique ingredients, and meets expert hosts. On her journey, she encounters the latest drink trends, the best bars, and 8,000 years of sipping history. 

Dinner Budget Showdown premieres May 3 on The Roku Channel. Hosts Sandra Lee and Jordan Andino challenge three home cooks to create a five-star meal on a two-star budget. Who will make the best, least expensive dish and win free groceries for a year? 

Wayne Brady: The Family Remix premieres July 24 on Freeform. Everyone knows Wayne Brady – actor, comedian, host, singer and preeminent multihyphenate of this generation – but there’s more to the man seen onstage. What happens when such an iconic entertainer peels back the curtain on the realities of an unexpected life? In “Wayne Brady: The Family Remix,” Brady has turned the term “modern family” on its head. He’s still best friends with his ex-wife, soulmate and business partner, Mandie Taketa. Together, they co-parent their 21-year-old daughter, student and aspiring artist Maile Brady, as well as run their production company, A Wayne & Mandie Creative. Jason Fordham, Mandie’s life partner since 2009, handles the family’s cinematography and post-production, and Mandie and Jason have an almost 3-year-old son, Sundance-Isamu. 

The final three episodes of Saturday Night Live kick off May 4 with Dua Lipa as host and musical guest. Maya Rudolph will host May 11 with musical guest Vampire Weekend. The season finale will be hosted by Jake Gyllenhaal on May 18 with musical guest Sabrina Carpenter. 

A new The Simpsons short will premiere May 10 on Disney+. May the 12th Be With You celebrates Mother’s Day and Marge Simpson joins the moms of Disney+ on a special holiday outing that turns into an epic galactic adventure filled with heroes, villains and a surprising old friend. 

Sean Teale will star in ABC’s upcoming series Dr. Odyssey. He joins Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson and Phillipa Soo in the series from Ryan Murphy. 

Prime Video has ordered The Girlfriend starring Robin Wright, Olivia Cooke, Laurie Davidson and Waleed Zuaiter. The series is based on Michelle Frances’ novel of the same name. Laura wants for nothing. She has a glittering career, a loving husband, Howard, and, above all, she has Daniel, her precious only son. But Laura’s seemingly perfect life is blown apart when Daniel brings home Cherry, the girlfriend who changes everything. After an uncomfortable first meeting, Laura grows convinced that Cherry isn’t who she says she is. While no one else can see what she sees, Laura refuses to stand by and watch Daniel be deceived. She’ll do anything to protect him. As things go from bad to deadly, the question is, is Cherry a manipulative social climber? Or is Laura paranoid and possessive? The truth is a matter of perspective… 

Disney’s Launchpad will return for a third season. The live action shorts program, an initiative dedicated to fostering emerging talent and amplifying diverse voices in filmmaking, invites aspiring writers and directors from underrepresented backgrounds or those with a unique perspective to produce a short as part of the Disney Launchpad: Shorts Incubator program. Submissions are now open through June 2, 2024, and will be considered for season three. 

Limited series The Life You Wanted premieres May 29 on Netflix. The series discusses the happiness that we assume we want, and also the unexpected happiness that upends our lives. This is the experience of Gloria, the protagonist of the series. 

Docuseries Stax: Soulsville U.S.A. premieres May 20 on HBO. By 1973, Stax Records was one of the recording industry’s most influential producers of soul music, breaking acts such as Otis Redding, Isaac Hayes, Booker T. & the M.G.’s, Sam & Dave, and many more. In just under two decades, the scrappy outsider had grown from a modest family-owned record store and studio in Memphis, TN to a trailblazing global music label. The series chronicles the audacious group of individuals who dared to make music on their own terms, smashing racial barriers and defining an era and leaving an enduring musical legacy in their wake. Driven by a striking collection of restored and remastered archival performance footage and intimate interviews with key players in the label’s remarkable history, it details the unlikely origin story of Stax Records and pays tribute to its complex music library and the legendary artists that emerged from the iconic studio. 

The 8 Show premieres May 17 on Netflix. Eight individuals trapped in a mysterious 8-story building participate in a tempting but dangerous game show where they earn money as time passes.

60 Days In and Inmate to Roommate return May 30 on A&E. This season on 60 Days In, seven participants voluntarily go undercover in the Utah County Jail to shed light on an influx of drugs, contraband and gang activity to help the Sheriff identify issues and create positive change for both inmates and staff. Inmate to Roommate follows six inmates from across the country as they leave prison behind and move in with everyday people they’ve never met.

Season two of Another Self premieres July 11 on Netflix. This summer, we’re back in Ayvalik.

The Life and Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson premieres June 1 on Lifetime. The documentary provides an opportunity for Nicole’s own narrative and voice to be heard in one of the most notorious crimes and trials in history. The project features 50 participants, including those who knew Nicole the best – her friends and family – to shed new light on her life and tragic death. With unprecedented access to exclusive home videos and interviews, the documentary will reveal shocking new details in the tragic story.

Uncle Samsik premieres May 15 on hulu. Uncle Samsik introduces himself to Kim San as the one who can turn his world around – promising that he can make any dream a reality. However, as Samsik’s plan for Kim San unfolds, more people interfere. Is Samsik truly the one who will fulfill Kim San’s dream, or is he leading him onto a dark path of corruption?
