Sweetpea is coming to Starz this October. Rhiannon Lewis doesn’t make much of an impression – people walk past her in the street without a second glance. She’s continually overlooked for a promotion at work, the guy she likes won’t commit, and her dad is really, really sick. Then everything in her life turns upside down. Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and loses control. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret? 

Season four winner Carrie Underwood is joining American Idol as a judge, replacing Katy Perry who exited the series after seven seasons. Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will return for their eighth consecutive season as judges, and longtime host Ryan Seacrest also returns when the show premieres in spring 2025 for the franchise’s 23rd overall season.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars premieres August 16 on Paramount+. Host RuPaul Charles, resident judge Michelle Visage, and director/choreographer Jamal Sims will be joined by guest judges Adriana Lima, Ariadna Gutiérrez-Arévalo, Carson Kressley, Danna Paola, Dianne Brill, Graham Norton, Jasmine Tookes, Javier Ambrossi & Javier Calvo, Matt Rogers, Ross Mathews and Ts Madison. 12 fan favorites from around the world will each represent their countries as they compete for the title of “Queen of the Mothertucking World,” a grand prize of $200,000, and a spot in the International Pavilion at the Drag Race Hall of Fame. The queens competing in the once-in-a-lifetime global drag competition include Alyssa Edwards, Athena Likis, Eva Le Queen, Gala Varo , Kitty Scott-Claus, Kween Kong, Miranda Lebrão, Nehellenia, Pythia, Soa de Muse, Tessa Testicle, and Vanity Vain. 

Season four of Johnson premieres on Bounce TV August 3 with back to back episodes. The dramedy series focuses on four best friends who share life along with the same last name. It is a journey of love, self-discovery, and brotherhood, touching on hot-button topics including race, mental health, classism and the ever-evolving relationship dynamics between men and women — themes that will continue to be prominent in the new season ahead. 

Doctor Odyssey will premiere on ABC September 26. Max is the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship where the staff works hard and plays harder. It’s all hands on deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore. The series stars Joshua Jackson, Don Johnson, Phillipa Soo and Sean Teale. 

The English dub of NieR:Automata Ver1.1a Cour 2 will premiere August 2 on Crunchyroll. 2B and 9S return to uncover hidden truths. Can they navigate new threats and unravel their world’s mysteries?

Production on Netflix’s limited series Wayward has begun The thriller series is set in a bucolic but sinister town that explores the insidious underbelly of the “troubled teen industry” and the eternal struggle between one generation and the next. The eight episode series stars Mae Martin, Toni Collette, Sarah Gadon, Sydney Topliffe, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Brandon Jay McLaren, Patrick J. Adams, Joshua Close, and Patrick Gallagher. 

Punkie Johnson will not be returning to Saturday Night Live when it returns for its 50th season this fall. She had been with the NBC late night series for four seasons. 

Holt McCallany will star in Netflix’s The Waterfront from Kevin Williamson. Inspired by true events, the series follows a flawed family driving themselves to dangerous means to keep their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire afloat.

Jake Lockett has been promoted to series regular on the upcoming thirteenth season of Chicago Fire. He has been with the NBC series since season eleven. KaDee Strickland is also set to recur in the new season. 

Jim Henson Idea Man will make its broadcast debut on ABC August 11. It will air as a part of The Wonderful World of Disney. The Emmy nominated project, directed by Ron Howard, takes us into the mind of this singular creative visionary, from his early years puppeteering on local television to the worldwide success of Sesame Street, The Muppet Show and beyond. Featuring unprecedented access to Jim’s personal archives, filmmaker Ron Howard brings us a fascinating and insightful look at a complex man whose boundless imagination inspired the world. 

Ramy Youssef and his production company Cairo Cowboy will develop and create projects for Netflix. Youssef will create and star in the new comedy series, Golf, alongside Will Ferrell. Season two of Mo is also coming soon. 

Following the departure of Norah O’Donnell this fall, CBS Evening News will move to New York and feature a new look and format, along with an ensemble team of journalists. John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois will anchor the nightly broadcast from the CBS Broadcast Center. Margaret Brennan will regularly lead coverage from Washington, D.C., when news breaks on the political and foreign affairs fronts. Also, Lonnie Quinn is being named chief weathercaster where he will deliver the latest weather reporting and forecasts. 

When Venu Sports launches in the fall, the streaming service will cost $42.99 a month. The ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery joint venture will bring together the companies’ portfolios of sports networks and certain direct to consumer services in a compelling new streaming sports service to allow underserved fans to get the most out of every game. 

Kicking off August 5, Nickelodeon will premiere new episodes of Rubble & Crew . The event will kick off with an epic PAW Patrol crossover event; a special episode featuring MLB superstar Aaron Judge; and brand-new episodes from seasons two and three, Monday through Thursday at 11 a.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon and 5 p.m. (ET/PT) on the Nick Jr. channel.  In the crossover event, “The Crew and Skye Build a Mountain Lodge,” PAW Patrol’s high-flying air rescue pup, Skye, visits Rubble and his crew from Adventure Bay when their construction project needs some aerial support. When the mischievous Speed Meister tries to beat the pups to finish the job, Skye, Rubble and the rest of the crew must jump into action to save the day. 

Indian series Citadel: Honey Bunny premieres on Prime Video November 7. The series is set in the world of Citadel which stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. A second series Citadel: Diana premieres October 10. 

Netflix’s Geeked Week will return the week of September 16. The fourth annual celebration will culminate with a live, in-person fan event in Atlanta on the evening of Thursday, September 19. This is the first time Geeked Week will bring together fandoms from series, film and games at a live fan event. 

Baseball themed children’s series HexClad Presents Bronx Buds will premiere on the YES app August 17. The seven minute episodes will premiere weekly on Saturday mornings.
