MGM+ has picked up Embassy, a high-stakes six-part action thriller starring Anna Kendrick, Sam Heughan and J.K. Simmons. When armed mercenaries storm the U.S. Embassy in London, Layla (Kendrick), a sharp and resourceful American diplomat, faces an impossible choice: protect the U.S. Ambassador (Simmons) or follow his orders to exfiltrate a high value asset being held at the embassy. As a larger conspiracy unfolds, Layla must rely on her instincts – and the reluctant help of her ex-fiancé, a British SAS soldier (Heughan) – in the tense hours before extraction.
Acorn TV has renewed Art Detectives for a second season. Set against a backdrop of Old Master paintings, Banksy street art, rare antiquities and priceless collectibles, Art Detectives centers around the Heritage Crime Unit, a police department consisting of art-loving DI Mick Palmer (Stephen Moyer) and straight-talking DC Shazia Malik (Nina Singh). Together, they navigate a rich and colorful world driven by greed, obsession, lust, and revenge to solve murders connected to the world of art and antiques. Larry Lamb returns as Ron Palmer, Mick’s charismatic, art-forging father. He’s now serving time in an open prison for handling the stolen Sickert painting that Mick recovered at the end of season one, cleverly hidden behind a portrait of Mick’s mother.
Bobby Flay’s The Line premieres September 8 on Food Network. In restaurant kitchens around the world, elite chefs must work as a team every night to perfectly execute their dishes under intense pressure and in the new competition series, the culinary icon pulls back the curtain on the high-stakes reality of working on a restaurant line. Each week, Bobby leads his hand-picked home team of extraordinary chefs Antonia Lofaso, Michael Jenkins and Claudette Zepeda against some of the country’s most acclaimed restaurant staffs to execute a flawless dinner service – all for real diners in real time. The dueling lines must deliver dishes to diners and VIP guests, who rate each plate. After the ratings roll in, the lines can then choose to pivot their strategy based on that feedback. The home team’s reputation is at stake to secure the win, but if the visiting team prevails, they will win $25,000.

Dexter: Resurrection returns for a second season later this year on Paramount+. The new season finds Dexter Morgan (MIchael C. Season three of Betty La Fea: The Story Continues has been rebranded as Betty La Fea: Uglier Than Ever, and premieres August 28 on Prime Video. This season finds Betty back in Bogotá for Hugo Lombardi’s farewell fashion show, where old emotions reignite and her path crosses once again with Armando’s. This time, Betty dares like never before: she starts therapy, gets her own apartment, and faces a crisis at Ecomoda after a plagiarism scandal, all while navigating an unexpected love triangle between Armando and Michel, her French ex who reappears to shake things up.
For the first time in America’s Got Talent history, celebrity guest judges will join the panel as part of the all-new Judges’ Callbacks round, marking one of the biggest format changes the series has ever introduced. Following the “Live Acts Revealed” special on Tuesday, July 28, each judge will personally select a group of standout acts for one more performance, where they will compete for the remaining coveted spots in the live shows. This two-week event will air on Tuesdays, Aug. 4 and 11 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC, before the live shows kick off on Aug. 18. As part of its ongoing efforts to advance content discovery, HBO Max has launched two new mobile features in the U.S., providing subscribers with new ways to browse, sample, and explore its premium library of programming. “HBO Max Shorts” is designed to help users discover something to watch by highlighting iconic and memorable scenes from the HBO Max library in a vertical, scrollable feed. Users can tap the “Shorts” icon on the bottom navigation menu to browse trailers, clips, and bonus content, making it easier to discover a new favorite series or film. Content within a user’s feed is customized to individual tastes and preferences based on watch history. If a title sparks a user’s interest, they can start watching immediately or add it to “My List” directly from the feed. This feature is initially being tested with select iOS users in the U.S. and then will be rolled out across more devices and markets.
