Peacock has renewed The Five Star Weekend for a second season. The series is centered on Hollis Shaw, a famed cook and best-selling author known for her delicious recipes, impeccable taste, and warm demeanor, who suffers a devastating loss. Unable to move forward, the death starts to expose the cracks in Hollis’s picture-perfect life – her strained marriage, her complicated relationship with her daughter, and her growing pursuit of validation from her fans. In an effort to overcome grief and find herself again, Hollis gets the idea to host a weekend away at her house on Nantucket with three friends from different stages in her life – childhood, college, motherhood – and one surprise guest. Set against a luxurious and coastal backdrop, the five “stars” will develop in ways they could never imagine as boundaries are pushed and secrets are exposed.
The Varnell Hill Show will premiere September 1 on Paramount+ with two episodes, followed by one new episode every Tuesday through October 13. Netflix announced more cast that are joining the upcoming series adaptation based on the world of “The Secret of Secrets” – the mystery thriller novel from Dan Brown, and the sixth installment in his ‘Robert Langdon’ series. Cherry Jones will play ‘Heide Nagel’, Corey Stoll will play ‘Everett Finch’, Rob Delaney will play ‘Jonas Faukman’, and Abbey Lee will play ‘Sasha Vesna’. Symbologist Robert Langdon races against ancient forces and time to rescue a missing scientist and her groundbreaking manuscript whose discoveries have the power to forever change humanity’s understanding of the mind. The series adaptation (currently untitled) will blend futuristic science with mystical lore, delivering on the heart-pounding suspense and international intrigue that has made the Langdon stories a global phenomenon.
Kill Jackie premieres this fall on AMC+. An untitled documentary about the seminal Gilmore Girls is currently in production and coming to HBO Max. The film marks the first-ever authorized documentary about the series, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of its debut in 2025. Offering a rare insider view into the creation of Gilmore Girls, told straight from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, featuring Lauren Graham as well as additional key cast and crew, the documentary reveals how the show eclipsed expectations to become a cross-generational phenomenon by unpacking the unique alchemy of the creators, cast, crew, and collaborators. The film includes never-before-seen outtakes, behind-the-scenes footage, and script pages.
With production wrapping last month in the Chicago area, the starting lineup for Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story has been named. Lyndsy Fonseca, Robert Buckley, Marsha Mason, Barbara Alyn Woods, and Khary Payton will star. Kaiju No. 8 short series Narumi’s Week at Work will premiere September 5 on Crunchyroll. In a world plagued by creatures known as Kaiju, Kafka Hibino aspired to enlist in The Defense Force. TNT’s limited series High Value Target: The Hunt for Saddam premieres September 13 with the first two episodes. Episode 3 will follow September 14. Katseye returns to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on August 12 at 11:35 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
