Film and primetime star Eric Roberts joins the cast of CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.”

The Young and the Restless welcomes star of film and primetime, Eric Roberts to the cast. Announced exclusively by EW.com today, Roberts will join the #1 daytime drama as an attorney who comes in to represent Adam Newman (Michael Muhney). During the masquerade ball in April, Adam faked his death and left evidence implicating his family as the prime suspects. Roberts begins taping this week for his first appearance to air on July 12.
Roberts recently appeared on the NBC’s Heroes and on the Starz breakout series Crash as Seth, along with the late Dennis Hopper. Most probably remember Roberts from his role of Salvatore Maroni in the 2009 film, The Dark Knight. Roberts has numerous film credits to his name, a career spanning over 30 years with his first feature film in 1978, The King of Gypsies. Roberts began his television career 4 years earlier, in 1974 when he appeared on How to Survive a Marriage. In 1977, Eric landed the role of Ted on NBC’s Another World.
Since 1980, Eric has appeared in a large number of made for television movies and prime time television series. Roberts has also been featured in various music videos from the likes of The Killers, Mariah Carey and Akon. Currently, Eric has several feature films due to be released within the next year, including The Expendables, starring with Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, and Dolph Lundgren.
Roberts will begin filming this week and will debut on July 12. The actor is expected to air through August.
