The CW has given full season orders to freshman dramas The Flash and Jane the Virgin.
It’s not a surprise that The CW picked up full seasons of its new dramas, they’re bona fide hits. The Flash’s premiere launched as the network’s most-watched series premiere ever, scoring 6.1 million viewers in Live + 3 Day Nielsen ratings, and was the network’s highest rated series premiere among the key 18-49 demographic in more than five years, since the 2009 debut of The Vampire Diaries.
Then there’s Jane the Virgin, the most critically acclaimed new series of the season. The premiere gave The CW it’s most-watched and highest-rated show in its time period in two years.
“Over the past three seasons, we have made it our mission to grow and to broaden out our audience, and to keep raising the bar with the quality and impact of our new shows,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. “The Flash and Jane have both exceeded our expectations on all counts. I’m thrilled to announce full season orders for both of these terrific new series.”
According to reports, The Flash received an additional 10-episode order, bringing its total to 23. Jane received a nine-episode order.
Jane the Virgin airs Mondays at 9:00 pm/EST. The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8:00 pm/EST.
