Soap alums continue to snag roles this pilot season, and one of our favorites can be added to the list. Former One Life to Live star Trevor St. John (ex-Todd/Victor Jr.) has been cast as a series regular in the pilot for the CW’s Roswell reboot.
The re-imagined Roswell, from The Originals’ Carina MacKenzie and Julie Plec, is based on the original Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz, originally adapted for Jason Katims’ WB/UPN series from 1999-2002. The new series follows Liz Ortecho (Jeanine Mason), a jaded biomedical researcher and daughter of undocumented immigrants, who reluctantly returns to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico. Liz discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush Max (played by The Originals/General Hospital alum Nathan Parsons), now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.
Deadline reports Trevor St. John will star opposite Mason as Master Sergeant Jesse Manes. Sgt. Manes, described as “stubborn and set in his ways,” takes over responsibility for the military’s coverup of the alien conspiracy, but unlike his predecessors, he isn’t interested in keeping up the status quo — he wants to destroy them.
If picked up to series, Roswell marks the actor’s second series regular role on The CW, his first being the short-lived (and canceled too soon) Containment.
Trevor St. John is best known for his role as Todd Manning/Victor Lord, Jr. on the defunct ABC soap opera One Life to Live from 2003-2012. He would later briefly reprise his role in the short-lived online revival in 2013. St. John has an array of primetime credits including The Client List, The Vampire Diaries, CSI: Cyber, The Fosters and more.
