Fresh off the series finale of Power, Starz has released the official trailer for the first of four spinoffs in what is being referred to as the Power Universe, Power Book II: Ghost, starring Mary J. Blige and Cliff “Method Man” Smith.
Taking place 72 hours after the events of the Power series finale, we now know Power Book II: Ghost follows original series character Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) as he starts his new life in college but is torn between loyalty to his family, creating a new identity for himself and the legacy his late father’s shadow casts.
Mary J. Blige will play Monet Tejada, a ruthless Queens business woman at the center of the series. LaToya Tonodeo will play her daughter Diana.
Method Man (The Deuce,” Garden State) plays sharp, highly motivated attorney Davis Maclean. Brilliant, ethically challenged, and with a few secrets of his own, Davis is drawn into our world on multiple axes, a world riddled with murder and drugs, where the only thing he’s really addicted to is winning.
Also reprising their Power roles will be star Naturi Naughton as Tasha St. Patrick, Shane Johnson as Cooper Saxe; Quincy Tyler Bernstine as Tameika Washington, and Gianni Paolo as Tariq’s new roommate Brayden.
Along with the previously announced Power Book II: Ghost, the network has ordered Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book IV: Influence, and Power Book V: Force. All spinoffs will be produced by Lionsgate television.
“POWER BOOK III: RAISING KANAN” – the prequel story that takes viewers back to the ’90s and the early years of iconic “Power” character Kanan Stark.
“POWER BOOK IV: INFLUENCE” which follows Rashad Tate (played by Larenz Tate) in his ruthless pursuit of political power.
“POWER BOOK V: FORCE” in which fans will ride along with Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) after he cuts ties and puts New York in his rearview mirror for good.
Power Book II: Ghost will premiere summer 2020. The “Power” series are executive produced by series creator and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp through her company End of Episode, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson through his G-Unit Film and Television.
