On the heels of the news that “Arrow” has been picked up for a full season, The CW has ordered three additional scripts each for its freshmen dramas “Emily Owens, M.D.” and “Beauty and the Beast.”
While neither new series has broken any ratings records, The CW is giving them a vote of confidence because both series delivered the network’s best performance in their respective time periods in months.
“Emily Owens, M.D.” focuses on surgical intern Emily (Mamie Gummer), who is starting at a new hospital and who is on her way to being caught in a love triangle between her med school crush (Justin Hartley) and her surgical resident (Michael Rady).
“Beauty and the Beast” tells the story of homicide detective Cat Chandler (Kristin Kreuk) and the mysterious man who once saved her life, Vincent Keller (Jay Ryan). Vincent continues to help Cat with her cases as the two try to fight their attraction to one another.
“Emily Owens, M.D.” airs Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. EST and “Beauty and the Beast” airs Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. EST on The CW.
