ABC has renewed Abbott Elementary for a fifth season. In this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers – and a slightly tone-deaf principal – are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible educators may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do – even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children.
Netflix has renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for a fourth season. The ten episode season will be based on the sixth book in ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ series by Michael Connelly, “The Law of Innocence.” Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will return as Mickey Haller, alongside Becki Newton (Lorna), Jazz Raycole (Izzy), and Angus Sampson (Cisco). Neve Campbell (Maggie McPherson) is also set to return for all episodes of the new season.
ABC has renewed High Potential for a second season. Based on the French series Haut Potentiel Intellectuel (HPI), the series follows a single mom with an exceptional mind, whose unconventional knack for solving crimes leads to an unusual and unstoppable partnership with a by-the-book seasoned detective.
Running Point premieres February 27 on Netflix. When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) is appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job. Season two of School Spirits premieres January 30 on Paramount+ with the first three episodes. Picking up from the shocking season one finale, the premiere episode “Whatever Happened to Maddie Nears?” follows Maddie Nears (Peyton List) as she works to bring a doubting Simon (Kristian Ventura), her only connection to the living world, back on board to help her track down and collect her missing body. Throughout the season, Maddie Nears is still stuck in the afterlife with the knowledge of what happened to her, and must unite her friends in the spectral and living worlds in order to reclaim her stolen life.

The English dub of Honey Lemon Soda premieres January 22 on Crunchyroll. After middle school, with its bullying and nicknames, Uka Ishimori is excited for a fresh start at Hachimitsu High School. Kai Miura, a cool and uninhibited boy, sits next to her in class. Uka remembers she met Kai in middle school and with a single word, he had convinced her to attend Hachimitsu. Though he’s popular, Kai supports Uka in her efforts to fit in with her new classmates.
Fox has set winter return dates for Animation Domination series Family Guy, Grimsburg, The Great North, Krapopolis and The Simpsons. February 16 will see the return of Family Guy at 8 followed by Grimsburg at 8:30. The Great North will return at 9 followed by Krapopolis at 9:30. March 30 will see the return of The Simpsons at 8 with Family Guy sliding to 8:30. Additional scheduling information will be announced at a later date.

Uma Thurman has been cast in Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection. Thurman will play the series regular role of Charley, the ‘Head of Security’ for mysterious billionaire Leon Prater. A former Special Ops officer, Charley worked various high-level private security jobs before taking on her position as the resourceful and meticulous right-hand woman for Prater. The series will premiere this summer.
Trevor Noah will return as host of The 67th Annual Grammy Awards. This will be Noah’s fifth consecutive year as host. The awards will carry a renewed sense of purpose by raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours. The ceremony airs live from Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena February 2 on CBS.
