Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel announced they will be ending their series Smiling Friends after three seasons. The news comes following the series being renewed at adult swim for a fourth and fifth season. The decision to end the series was their own choice. Two final episodes from the third season will air April 12 at 11PM.

The Boroughs premieres May 21 on Netflix. In a seemingly perfect retirement community, a grieving newcomer’s monstrous encounter inspires him to join a misfit crew of unlikely heroes who uncover a dark secret that proves their “golden years” are more dangerous, and they are more formidable, than anyone expects. The series stars Alfred Molina (Sam), Geena Davis (Renee), Alfre Woodard (Judy), Denis O’Hare (Wally), Clarke Peters (Art), Bill Pullman (Jack), Carlos Miranda (Paz), Jena Malone (Claire), Seth Numrich (Blaine), Alice Kremelberg (Anneliese). Additional cast include Ed Begley Jr. (Edward), Dee Wallace (Grace), Eric Edelstein (Hank), Rafael Casal (Neil), Mousa Hussein Kraish (Dr. McGinnis), Beth Bailey (Kayleigh), Karan Soni (Toby) with Jane Kaczmarek (Lilly) and more.

HBO has renewed Industry for a fifth and final season. The series concludes its eight-episode fourth season March 1. At the top of their game and living the lives they set out to have as Pierpoint grads, Harper (Myha’la) and Yasmin (Marisa Abela) are drawn into a high stakes, globetrotting cat-and-mouse game when a splashy fintech darling bursts onto the London scene. As Yasmin navigates her relationship with tech founder Sir Henry Muck (Kit Harington) and Harper is pulled into the orbit of enigmatic executive Whitney Halberstram (Max Minghella), their twisted friendship begins to warp and ignite under the pressure of money, power, and the desire to be on top.

Matt Dillon will star in MGM+’s upcoming eight-episode drama series The Magnificent Seven, a reimagining of the classic 1960 Western film. Dillon will reprise the iconic role of Chris Adams, originally played by Yul Brynner, who becomes the leader of seven gunslingers who sign onto the task of protecting a group of innocent villagers from a mercenary land baron hellbent on stealing their land. Stoic, steady under pressure, and with an unflinching gaze that does most of the talking for him, Chris has no patience for hypocrisy or cruelty and holds fast to a quiet moral code rooted in fairness and restraint. Set in the tumultuous 1880s American frontier, the series follows seven gifted but flawed mercenaries hired to protect a peaceful Quaker village after it is massacred by mercenaries working for a ruthless land baron trying to seize their land. As the team embeds itself and prepares to defend against overwhelming odds, they grapple with a central question: is violence acceptable to defend people whose faith is based on non-violence? The series explores the backstories of each of the Seven, what’s at stake for them, and why they choose this mission – delving into themes of honor, sacrifice, redemption, morality, and faith.

Connor Storrie hosts Saturday Night Live February 28. Mumford & Sons will serve as musical guest on the late night NBC series.

Season four of Sullivan’s Crossing premieres April 20 on The CW. Maggie Sullivan’s life at the Crossing is finally taking shape having decided on a new direction for her career and a renewed commitment to Cal. That is, until Maggie’s ex-husband, Liam, arrives with a shocking revelation which only upends Maggie’s life once again and causes Cal to question whether Maggie will ever truly be able to leave her past behind.

Martin Clunes will guest star on Fox’s Best Medicine. The original star of the UK’s Doc Martin will play Martin’s father, Robert Best. The series centers on Dr. Martin Best, a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child with his Aunt Sarah. There, he will meet the eclectic townspeople, including the charming schoolteacher Louisa Gavin, lovable Sheriff Mark Mylow and Martin’s inept but endearing assistant, Elaine Denton. Unfortunately, Martin’s blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, and he quickly alienates the town, even though he’s all they’ve got. Although Martin can expertly address any medical ailment or mystery in this idiosyncratic town, he’s really just desperate to be left the hell alone. Instead, he keeps getting dragged right smack into the middle of their personal chaos, feuds and fantasies. What the locals don’t know is that Martin’s terse demeanor masks a debilitating new phobia and deep-seated psychological issues that prevent him from experiencing true intimacy with anyone. But tenacity is the creed of everyone in this small village, and the people who live there may be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Netflix has added more cast to the upcoming second season of Untamed. Moon Bloodgood and Kekoa Kekumano will be series regulars while Luciane Buchanan, Moronai Kanekoa, Robbie Magasiva, Myra Molloy, Branscombe Richmond, Matthew Keoni Sato, and Joe Tippett will recur. They all join previously announced Eric Bana, Shea Whigham, and Kelly Hu. The second season follows special agent Kyle Turner as he’s called to investigate a mysterious death in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, where local tensions and the volatile, living landscape become an unpredictable force.

Jake Johnson will star in NBC’s Untitled Dan Goor/Luke Del Tredici Project. The potential series is a workplace comedy set in the world of private detectives.

Emma Roberts will star in a potential TV adaptation of the movie Bride Wars. The Peacock project would follow a big-city wedding planner whose arrival in a small town sparks an epic showdown with a beloved local planner. As the two women battle to plan the same wedding, their rivalry quickly escalates into a larger clash over friendship, community, and, ultimately, love.

The Chestnut Man premieres May 7 on Netflix. A 41-year-old woman is reported missing, and when the police unravel her digital footprints, it becomes evident that she has been stalked for months. An unidentified perpetrator has been playing an involuntary game of hide and seek, surveilling her while sending her not only images and videos but also a seemingly innocent nursery rhyme-style counting song. When the woman is later found murdered, it becomes evident that this case can be linked to a similar, unsolved murder case of a 17-year-old high school student who was found murdered two years ago. But what is the connection between the two victims? And when will the perpetrator begin to “play” hide and seek again? Mark Hess and Naia Thulin yet again lead the investigation, but the relationship between the two detectives is complicated.

Live action series Song of the Samurai premieres May 9 on HBO Max. It is based on the manga “Chiruran: Shinsengumi Requiem.” Set in Kyoto at the end of the Edo period, the story depicts the intense and passionate lives of the Shinsengumi – the iconic samurai force that defended Kyoto in the final years of Japan’s shogunate – through spectacular action and a bold interpretation based on historical facts. The story follows street brawler Toshizo Hijikata, who finds a new kind of family in Isami Kondo and Soji Okita. Hijikata and his comrades in the Shinsengumi forge a bond of loyalty – tested by betrayal, illness, and war – as they fight not only their enemies but their own ideals.
