Based on a True Story returns for season two on Peacock November 21. Season two finds new parents Ava and Nathan Bartlett three months into parenthood. Focused on taking care of her family, Ava is determined to resist her true crime obsession and return to work as a real estate agent while Nathan trains private tennis clients. But a series of new murders pulls her back in – is Matt behind the slayings? Is Tory, now entangled in a relationship with Matt, in danger? For a while, life is good — Ava’s TikTok habit and her new friend Drew provide a welcome distraction, and Nathan’s all in on reigniting his tennis career as well as his friendship with Matt — until danger comes knocking, literally. 

Season three of The Legend of Vox Machina premieres on Prime Video October 3. The Chroma Conclave’s path of destruction spreads like wildfire while the Cinder King hunts down Vox Machina. Our lovable band of misfits must rise above inner (and outer) demons to try and save their loved ones, Tal’Dorei, and all of Exandria. 

Season two of Gyeongseong Creature premieres on Netflix September 27. The series, which captured the heartbreaking romance between two people standing against the tragedy borne from monstrous human desire in 1945 Gyeongseong, now takes viewers on a journey to 2024 Seoul. This season uncovers the never-ending ties of fate – both good and bad – that weaves through time. Ho-jae, a man deceptively similar to Tae-sang, and Chae-ok, a survivor of the Gyeongseong spring, navigate these complex relationships in the modern era. 

The seventh installment of Shudder’s V/H/S series, V/H/S/Beyond, arrives just in time for Halloween, premiering October 4. Dive into a sci-fi nightmare with six chilling tapes that push the limits of fear. It will feature segments from Kate Siegel, Mike Flanagan, Justin Long, and more. 

Basketball series Starting 5 premieres October 9 on Netflix. The ten episode series provides an intense, behind-the-scenes look at the 2023-24 NBA season through the eyes of five of the league’s biggest players – Jimmy Butler (Miami Heat), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics). The series captures their battles on and off the court as they chase greatness, push through injuries, and balance the demands of family and legacy. James pushes himself harder than ever to stay healthy – and dominant – in his 21st season, while Edwards electrifies with his rapid rise. Butler’s relentless drive propels the Heat, Sabonis anchors the Kings with his versatile play, and Tatum leads the Celtics in their quest for a record 18th championship. It delivers an unfiltered view of life at the pinnacle of professional basketball.

Season two of Lioness premieres on Paramount+ October 27. As the CIA’s fight against terror moves closer to home, Joe, Kaitlyn, and Byron enlist a new Lioness operative to infiltrate a previously unknown threat. With pressure mounting from all sides, Joe is forced to confront the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program. 

Be My Guest with Ina Garten returns for a new season on Food Network September 29. Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, hosts friends old and new at her East Hampton home for good food and great conversation. The season kicks off with a get-together with chef, restaurateur and fellow Food Network star Bobby Flay, followed by visits from award-winning actor, comedian, writer and producer Julia Louis-Dreyfus; talk show host, comedian, writer and producer Stephen Colbert and his wife, producer Evie McGee-Colbert; award-winning actor and producer Wendell Pierce; bestselling novelist Ann Patchett; and chef and world-class restaurateur Eric Ripert. 

The new season of Windy City Rehab premieres September 24 on HGTV. Chicago designer Alison Victoria is busier than ever designing and managing 12 renovation projects in her hometown. In each episode, Alison will juggle troublesome timelines, budget setbacks and client expectations, all while sourcing unique pieces and maximizing square footage to produce one-of-a-kind properties with her signature flair. This season will also document Alison’s pursuit to get back into the flipping game. To come up with the capital for new projects, she will face the tough decision to keep or sell her newly renovated Chicago dream home and Atlanta condo. 

ESPN has greenlit the production of “The Sack Exchange,” the latest installment of its 30 for 30 series. It will take a nostalgic look back at the sensational defensive line of the 1980s New York Jets, a group of larger-than-life personalities that not only terrorized quarterbacks but also captivated an entire city with their flamboyant style and relentless drive. 

Nikki Glaser is set to host the 82nd Annual Golden Globes. The ceremony will air on CBS January 5. Nominations are set to be announced on December 9. 

Docuseries KSW Titans premieres on Viaplay September 3. The series offers a deep dive into the thrilling realm of mixed martial arts, with a spotlight on Europe’s iconic fighting organisation, KSW (Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki). From gruelling training regimens to profound sacrifices and the rollercoaster of highs and lows, the series unveils the intense journey these warriors undertake as they prepare for the ultimate battle.

With the Main Draw of the 2024 US Open underway in New York City, ESPN and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) have extended their relationship with a new, 12-year agreement that will keep the iconic event with ESPN through 2037. The deal, which starts in 2026 and is ESPN’s longest-term tennis agreement, also continues to make ESPN the home of the entire US Open in Latin America and the Caribbean and in Canada on TSN and RDS. ESPN Deportes likewise continues as the exclusive Spanish-language home of the US Open in the United States. 

Sports docuseries Cody Gakpo – Psalm 20:40 premieres on Viaplay September 17. Netherlands football star and Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo won a Golden Boot Award at the recent Euro 2024 as one of its top scorers. With a soaring career and high-stakes transfers, Cody Gakpo’s journey from Eredivisie to Liverpool FC reveals the pressures of elite football and his devotion to faith and family. 

We Were Kings premieres on Netflix September 25. Javo, Mike, and Santos grew up together in the neighborhood of Iztapalapa, in Mexico City… but a forbidden love triangle will lead these young friends to reformulate everything they believe about happiness, family, and love. 

End of Summer premieres on Viaplay September 10. It is an absorbing Nordic noir based on the crime novel by former police officer Anders de la Motte. In the Swedish summer of the late 90s, 14-year-old Vera’s refusal to let her little brother Billy accompany her results in his inexplicable disappearance. Two decades later, a hauntingly familiar young man brings Vera back to her childhood home, where she’s driven to unravel the mystery of Billy’s fate. The truth might fracture her world forever.

TV on the Edge premieres September 22 on CNN. Each episode identifies a different TV moment – whether from a sitcom, a drama, or a live event – as an entry point to examine salient and deep themes about our culture. Featuring never-before-heard details from those who were there and commentary from celebrities, TV insiders, politicians, journalists, comedians, and culture critics, the series showcases the power of television, the legacy of these iconic events, and the impact they have had on our lives. 

Taelgia premieres on Viaplay September 24. In a diverse Swedish city, families, police and criminals are caught in a crossfire of loyalties, demands and guilt. Meanwhile, some young people are trying to find a way to a better life. Surrounding the adult criminals are the younger ones, the runners. They sell drugs and rig getaway mopeds, until one day they are forced to take on more dangerous missions with a mixture of fear and pride. This is their story. It is also the story of their families: wondering siblings and desperate parents struggling to keep their children on the straight and narrow. Gabriel has recently moved into the Ronna district of Södertälje., while teenager Marko deals drugs in the local area. Soon, the pair become immersed in a murky underworld of serious crime as unrest hits the city and debts owed by Gabriel’s family take their toll.

The English Dub of I Parry Everything premieres on HIDIVE August 29. The Kingdom of Clays faces a dire crisis: an assassination attempt has just been made on its own Princess Lynneburg, and now its neighboring countries eye the aftermath like starving vultures, plotting the Kingdom’s downfall. The ensuing conflict will shape the face of the continent for centuries to come…but Noor doesn’t have a clue about any of that! Having freshly arrived at the royal capital after over a decade of rigorous, isolated training at his mountain home, he’s dead set on achieving his childhood dream of becoming an adventurer, even if the only skills he possesses are useless ones.
