NBC has picked up Magnum P.I. for twenty episodes to air over two seasons. The door is open for more episodes should the network choose to renew it again down the line. The news comes following CBS canceling the series after four seasons in May. Magnum P.I. is a modern take on the classic series centering on Thomas Magnum, a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator. The series stars Jay Hernandez, Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Tim Kang and Amy Hill.
Fox has canceled animated comedy series Duncanville after three seasons. The ten episode third season recently wrapped on the network. Six additional episodes will be released later this year exclusively on hulu. The series is centered around a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy, his family and friends. Like most 15-year-olds, Duncan can see adulthood on the horizon: money, freedom, cars and girls; but the reality is more like: always being broke, driving with one’s mom sitting shotgun and babysitting one’s sister. He’s not exceptional, but he has a wild imagination in which he’s never anything less than amazing. Duncan’s mom, Annie, a parking enforcement officer who dreams of someday being a detective, lives in perpetual fear that her teenage son is one bad decision away from ruining his life and will do anything to stop him. Duncan’s father, Jack, is a classic-rock-obsessed plumber who’s determined to be a better dad than the one he had. Duncan has two sisters: 12-year-old Kimberly, and six-year-old Jing. Duncan hangs with his friends Bex, Yangzi and Wolf. Mia is Duncan’s on-again, off-again crush, and Mr. Mitch is their cool teacher/guidance counselor/occasional school nurse.
Paramount+ has abandoned its plans for a third season of the anthology series Why Women Kill. The series was previously renewed in December. Each season of the show from Marc Cherry focused on different characters and actresses telling their stories.
The CW has canceled Tom Swift after one season. The series was a spinoff of The CW’s Nancy Drew. CBS Studios plans to shop the series to try and find a new home. As an exceptionally brilliant inventor with unlimited resources and unimaginable wealth, the devilishly charming Tom Swift is a man who many men would kill to be, or be with – a man with the world in the palm of his hand. But that world gets shaken to its core after the shocking disappearance of his father, thrusting Tom into a breathtaking adventure full of mysterious conspiracies and unexplained phenomena. On his whirlwind quest to unravel the truth, Tom finds himself fighting to stay one step ahead of an Illuminati-scale cabal hellbent on stopping him.
HBO has canceled The Time Traveler’s Wife after one season. The series starred Rose Leslie and Theo James and was based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger. The first season consisted of six episodes and followed the spellbinding and intricately out-of-order love story between Clare and Henry, and a marriage with a problem: time travel.
Anime series Fuuto PI is set to premiere on Crunchyroll July 31. The series is a spinoff of the Kamen Rider series. The story is canonically set after the events of Kamen Rider W, the 11th of the Heisei era, which aired in 2009. It follows private investigator Shotaro Hidari and the mysterious boy Philip, two strangers who become one Kamen Rider!
Season two of Syfy’s Resident Alien returns August 10. The second half of the season picks up in the immediate aftermath of the shocking action Asta took to save Harry’s life. They must deal with the emotional fallout of the night all while searching for the alien baby – a search that leads to big realizations for each of them. Meanwhile, Sheriff Mike and Deputy Liv solve a big case, Ben attempts to sell Patience on a new resort, and D’arcy fights the challenge of a lifetime.
La Brea returns for season two on NBC September 27. The series follows an epic family adventure after a massive sinkhole opens in Los Angeles pulling people and buildings into a mysterious and dangerous primeval land where they have no choice but to band together to survive. In season two, the Harris family remains separated as Eve is reeling from her son, Josh, having mistakenly gone through a portal to 1988. What she doesn’t know yet is that her ex-husband, Gavin, and their daughter, Izzy, have landed in prehistoric Seattle and now must brave the elements and animals to make their way to L.A.
Freeform’s Everything’s Trash premieres July 13. The series follows Phoebe, a 30-something outspoken podcast star making her professional mark while living a broke and delightfully messy life in Brooklyn. When her “perfect” older brother launches a political campaign, she’s forced to start her adulting journ-journ. Ugh. Life may be a little boo-boo, but Phoebe, ever the cocoa queen, is still thriving.
NBC’s Password revival series starring Jimmy Fallon and hosted by Keke Palmer premieres August 9. In each of the hour long episodes, a celebrity and Fallon will pair up with contestants over two games. Players from each team guess a secret password using only one-word clues in an effort to take home up to $25,000. Episodes will feature Yvette Nicole Brown, Tony Hale, Jon Hamm, Chelsea Handler, Heidi Klum, Joel McHale, Chrissy Metz, Martin Short, J.B. Smoove and Meghan Trainor. The new series will also see legacy contestants from 1980’s versions of Password try their luck once again to see if they still have what it takes to win.
Netflix’s six episode limited series Keep Breathing, starring Melissa Barrera, premieres July 28. After her private plane crashes in the remote Canadian frontier, lone survivor and New York lawyer, Liv, must battle both an unforgiving wilderness and past personal traumas to stay alive.
Peacock’s Love Island USA will be hosted by Sarah Hyland. The series premieres July 19 with six episode drops per week. This new season will push boundaries like never before with unpredictable twists and turns and unexpected surprises, creating the ultimate recipe for Summer fun.
HBO Max has renewed Ten Year Old Tom for a second season. The series follows the misadventures of an average kid as he contends with questionable guidance from the well-meaning grownups around him. Being a kid is hard enough for Tom, but when bad influences seem to lurk around every corner – from litigious parents and drug dealing bus drivers to school administrators who want to sleep with his mom – it’s downright impossible. While the adults in Tom’s life certainly mean well, they just can’t manage to lead by example.
Season two of Netflix’s Young Royals will return this November. A winter break has passed and Prince Wilhelm and the rest of his classmates are back at Hillerska. When Wilhelm tries to take revenge on August, and win back Simon’s trust, he creates problems that threaten the entire monarchy.
The final season of Hallmark Channel’s Chesapeake Shores is set to premiere August 14. The final season will consist of ten episodes. The series explores the lives and loves of four generations of the O’Brien family, after the homecoming of eldest daughter Abby and – over the past five seasons – has seen the family reconcile following a painful chapter in their past.
Freeform has picked up drama series The Watchful Eye. The series was developed under the name The Nanny. The series follows Elena Santos, a young woman with a complicated past, maneuvering her way into working as a live-in nanny for an affluent family in Manhattan. She quickly learns that everyone in the mysterious building has deadly secrets and ulterior motives. What they don’t know, however, is that Elena has some shocking secrets of her own.
Peacock has reversed its straight to series order for a Field of Dreams TV series. Instead, Universal TV will now shop the series elsewhere. The project comes from Michael Schur.
Netflix’s limited series Lost Ollie will premiere August 24. The mixed live action and animated series stars Gina Rodriguez and Jake Johnson along with the voices of Mary J Blige, Jonathan Groff and Tim Blake Nelson.
David Arquette and Elizabeth Marvel have been cast in Peacock’s upcoming drama series Mrs. Davis. The two will recur alongside stars Betty Gilpin, Jake McDorman, Andy McQueen, Ben Chaplin and Margo Martindale. The series is an exploration of faith versus technology – an epic battle of biblical and binary proportions.
Zane Phillips, Jade Payton, Michael Hsu Rosen, Ayesha Harris, and Graham Parkhurst have been cast in Netflix’s upcoming series Glamorous. Also cast in guest and recurring roles are Diana Maria Riva, Lisa Gilroy, and Mark Deklin. They join Miss Benny and Kim Cattrall in the series. The series was originally developed at The CW but was passed over, eventually making its way to Netflix. The series follows Marco Mejia, a young queer man whose life feels stuck in place until he lands a job working for a legendary maquillista.
Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski have been cast in the upcoming Apple TV+ live-action Godzilla and Titans series based on Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise. Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the untitled Monsterverse series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.
Big Bad Budget Battle, hosted by Ree Drummond, premieres on Food Network August 9. In the six episode series, three talented home cooks, with a knack for transforming every day affordable ingredients into mouthwatering meals, will be challenged to shop on a budget in the ultimate grocery store – Flavortown Market. With only a small stash of cash, they must buy all the ingredients needed to make the best inexpensive and delicious dish they can. Only the best cook and thriftiest shopper will take home the trophy and a whole year’s worth of groceries.
S. Epatha Merkerson and Judith Light will star in Peacock’s upcoming series Poker Face. They join Natasha Lyonne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Chloë Sevigny, Dascha Polanco, Lil Rel Howery, Adrien Brody, Stephanie Hsu, Benjamin Bratt, David Castañeda and Ellen Barkin. The drama series comes from Rian Johnson.
Natasha Behnam has been cast in HBO Max’s The Girls On The Bus. She joins Melissa Benoist in the political drama series. The series is inspired by a chapter in Amy Chozick’s book Chasing Hillary.
HBO’s Perry Mason has cast Wallace Langham. He will recur in the second season of the prequel series to the original Perry Mason series.
Nat Geo has ordered Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted Showdown set to premiere July 25. The series is a spinoff of Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted. The three episode series stars Ramsay’s daughter Tilly.
Yuriyan Retriever has been cast in Netflix’s new series The Queen of Villain. The series tells the unknown story of Dump Matsumoto, a professional wrestler who spurred the women’s professional wrestling boom with her cult-like popularity and took Japan by storm in the 1980s. The series will premiere in 2023.
Anoop Desai and Parisa Fakhri are set to recur in the upcoming fourth season of FX’s What We Do in the Shadows. Desai is a former finalist on American Idol. The fourth season premieres July 12 and the series has already been renewed for two more seasons.
HGTV’s Flip to a Million premieres August 1. The six episode series narrated by Alison Victoria follow two couples who are both successful house flippers in their respective markets: Jason and EJ Williams of Chicago, Illinois, and Jon and Dani Wrobel of Long Island, New York. The pairs will be dropped in an unfamiliar city – Dallas, Texas – where they will set out to prove that, in the world of real estate, it’s possible to start out with almost nothing and turn it into a fortune. With an initial budget of only $1,000, each couple will work the real estate and flipping market to buy, renovate and sell properties. Their goal: build to a $1 million house sale in just six months. To try to make it happen, the duos must take real risks and go to any length to flip to a million.
Prime Video’s The Ferragnez – The Series returns for season two in 2023. The Olympic Channel is set to shut down. The final day of the network will be September 30. The network airs old Olympic games coverage along with shows that focused on the athletes competing in the games.
Apple TV+’s new family comedy series Best Foot Forward premieres July 22. Paradise PD has been renewed for a fourth and final season December 16. The Netflix adult animated series follows an eager young rookie as he joins the ragtag small-town police force led by his dad as they bumble, squabble and snort their way through a big drug case.
Star Trek: Prodigy is set to make its weekly debut on Nickelodeon July 8. Episodes will air through August 5. The series follows a group of lawless teens as they discover a derelict Starfleet ship and use it to search for adventure, meaning and salvation. The teens know nothing about the ship they have commandeered – a first in the history of the Star Trek franchise – but over the course of their adventures together they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents. The first half of the first season previously premiered on Paramount+.

60 Days In returns for its seventh season alongside the new series Inmate to Roommate August 18 on A&E. This season on 60 Days In, seven formerly incarcerated citizens will voluntarily go behind bars at the Henry County Jail in McDonough, Georgia to help pinpoint the problems and assist the new Sheriff with a reconnaissance mission in the facility. Inmate to Roommate chronicles the stories of six ex-convicts as they are released from prison and move in with people they barely know for a second chance at life on the outside.
