The Shards premieres August 5 on FX and hulu. The series is based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. Set against the vivid backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles, the series follows a group of privileged high school seniors at an elite prep school as they navigate identity, sex, jealousy, obsession and the dangers lurking beneath the surface of American adolescence. At its center is Bret (Igby Rigney), an aspiring writer and keenly observant teenager whose reality begins to unravel with the arrival of a mysterious and magnetic new student, Robert Mallory (Homer Gere). Transferring in just before his senior year, Robert’s appearance coincides with the growing terror of The Trawler, a serial killer targeting teenagers across the city. Alongside Bret is his elite social circle, which consists of Susan Reynolds (Kaia Gerber), Debbie Schaffer (Hayes Warner) and Thom Wright (Graham Campbell), a glamorous and deeply entangled group drawn into a life of wealth, beauty, parties and excess. The promise of their youth is contrasted with the dark and cynical world of the adults surrounding them: Terry Schaffer (Wes Bentley), Liz Schaffer (Evan Rachel Wood) and Steven Reinhardt (Jordan Roth).
Netflix has announced the rest of the cast for Scooby-Doo: Origins, which is currently in production in Atlanta, GA and will release globally on Netflix in 2027. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.
Season two of Diarra from Detroit premieres July 29 on Paramount+ with the first two episodes, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through September 9. Created and starring Diarra Kilpatrick, season two finds Diarra Brickland trying – unsuccessfully – to have a hot girl summer without getting wrapped up in yet another deeply unserious and extremely dangerous Detroit mystery. This time around, what starts as a seemingly harmless furniture recovery mission quickly spirals into a triple homicide investigation, a citywide treasure hunt and another trip deep into Detroit’s criminal underbelly. As Diarra attempts to sort out her messy relationship status, she instead finds herself going undercover with a secret society, starring in a Tubi movie, chasing urban legends, dodging gang warfare, and uncovering secrets buried beneath the city itself. Because of course she does.
Only Murders in the Building has added cast for its upcoming new season. Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard, and Sharon Horgan will appear in the sixth season of the hulu series.
Season three of The Walking Dead: Dead City premieres July 26 on AMC. Crime drama Fightland premieres July 31 on Starz. The upcoming family crime drama is set against London’s boxing scene. The BBC has announced an update about the future of Doctor Who. As part of securing the next phase of the show for future generations, the BBC will put Doctor Who out to competitive tender this year. Doctor Who remains an important part of the BBC and this tender underpins the BBC’s continued commitment to Doctor Who ensuring audiences will enjoy the show for years to come. After careful consideration, the BBC, Russell T Davies and Bad Wolf have collectively decided not to go ahead with the previously announced Doctor Who Christmas episode. This decision was not taken lightly, but in order to set the show up for future series, it was decided that rather than bridge the gap with a one off special, we are choosing to push forward to invest in the long-term future of the show which ensures that when the TARDIS lands once more, it does so in all its glory. The previously announced new Doctor Who animation series for CBeebies is currently in production.

The Circle will be moving to hulu for its upcoming new season. The series previously streamed on Netflix. The new version of the series will feature celebrity contestants rather than everyday civilians.

Ugliest House in America returns with an expanded format now featuring six, one-hour episodes and four hideous houses competing to win in each region of the country starting July 20. Texas real estate agent Noel Collier will flex her specialty of helping clients with the most wildly unique property requests find their dream homes in Extreme Buyers Club, premiering July 21.

The Map of Longing premieres July 17 on Netflix. the miniseries starring Alícia Falcó, Pablo Álvarez, and Georgina Amorós. The series is an adaptation of the novel by Spanish author Alice Kellen. It tells the moving story of Greta, who claims she was born with the purpose of saving her sister Lucy, who suffers from leukemia, through her stem cells.
