Comedy series Dig premieres November 23 on Peacock. The series follows a team of dedicated archaeologists (and less-dedicated college students) who spend their summer working on a dig site in Greece. Their discovery of a rare artifact sends them on the adventure of a lifetime. The series stars Amy Poehler, Hugh Laurie, Geraldine Viswanathan, Antonia Thomas and Fina Strazza.
Netflix has rounded out the cast of its formerly untitled hockey project, now titled The Sticks. Scott Bakula, Logan Marshall-Green, and Alex MacIsaac join as series regulars. Bryan Greenberg, Chelsea Field, Patrick Gallagher, Alison Araya, Aman Smardon, Krista Bridges, and Ben Cotton will recur. They join join Michelle Monaghan (as Harper Sullivan), Emilie Bierre (as Riley Sullivan), Shai Chase (as Henry Sullivan), Josh MacQueen (as Rhett Nelson), Costa D’Angelo (as Owen Boone), Carter Shimp (as Austin Ryder), Ethan Holder (as Cooper Cunningham), Isaac Arellanes (as Manny Rodriguez), Chloe Avakian (as Izzy Miller), Caleb Baumann (as Elu), River Codack (as Tyler Walker), Angus Albinati (as Jack McGrath) and Callum Orchison (as Derek Marchbanks). After tragedy shatters a small Minnesota hockey town, a grieving wife steps behind the bench of the team her husband built, guiding a found family of wounded young athletes through a season of loss, love, and rivalry that will decide whether South Dorothy has anything left to believe in, and who will lead it into its next chapter.
Apple TV has picked up drama series Ascension from Alfonso Cuarón, starring Caitríona Balfe. Inspired by the novel “Last Days” by Adam Nevill, the series is a one-hour psychological horror thriller following Rose, a relentless documentary filmmaker and recently divorced mother who is brilliant at uncovering others’ truths but struggling to resolve her own. When Rose begins a project on a mysterious 20th-century cult known as the Church of Ascension, she finds unexpected refuge in its teachings – until she discovers something far more insidious beneath. It explores evil and innocence at the highest level, while asking how far we’ll go – and what we’ll sacrifice – to protect the ones we love, even when the greatest threat to them may be ourselves.
The English dub of Banana Fish will premiere on Netflix August 12. All 24 episodes will release that day. The proper dub comes following Prime Video’s attempt at an AI English dub which resulted in backlash from viewers. The series originally premiered in 2018 in Japanese with English subtitles.
American Hostage premieres September 20 on MGM+ with two episodes, followed by one weekly. Based on the acclaimed first season of the scripted podcast of the same name, American Hostage is a psychological thriller set in the 1970s that tells the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman, a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who is thrust into the middle of a life-or-death crisis when hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program. The series stars Jon Hamm as Fred Heckman, alongside Giovanni Ribisi as Tony Kiritsis. Additional cast includes Kristoffer Polaha as Dick Hall, William Jackson Harper as Ben Hairston and Mireille Enos as Barbara Heckman, Jonathan Tucker as FBI Special Agent Cormac McNally and Kat Cunning as Ibby Hall.
NFL Hometown Eats premieres August 24 on The Roku Channel. The series combines football, food, and fandom in one delicious package. Each episode, a celebrity superfan teams up with an NFL player to explore the best restaurants around their home stadium. From Eva Longoria and DeMarcus Ware tackling larger-than-life Texas eats, to Joel McHale and Devon Witherspoon conquering the Seattle Dog, to Davante Adams and Rebel Wilson diving into LA’s eclectic cuisine. It’s a show that will leave you hungry for more.
Damon Wayans is set to guest star on the upcoming third season of St. Denis Medical as a new doctor. The season premiere will reunite Wayans with his former In Living Color co-star David Alan Grier, who is a series regular on the NBC series.
To celebrate adult swim’s 25th anniversary, the network will air its day one lineup on September 2. Home Movies will air at 10, followed by The Brak Show, Harvey Birdman, Sealab 2021, and Space Ghost Coast to Coast. It will be followed by a re-airing of the Robot Chicken Adult Swim Special. The only show missing from the lineup is Cowboy Bebop which would have capped off the night.
Ahead of Mariska Hargitay hosting the 2026 Emmys, NBC will air an Law & Order: SVU marathon September 10. The Emmys will air September 14 on NBC.
Demi Lovato is confirmed to guest star in the upcoming Camp Rock 3. The Jonas Brothers also starred alongside Lovato in the first two films, and were previously announced as starring in the third film. The film premieres August 13 on Disney Channel, next day on Disney+.
Brandy Norwood returns to Lifetime this holiday season to star in and executive produce Christmas Everyday Again, the followup to Christmas Everyday. Norwood reprises her role as Francine “Fancy” Ballantine, alongside real-life daughter Sy’rai Smith who stars as Fancy’s younger sister, Belle; Debbi Morgan as their mother, Evelyn; and Robert C. Riley as Fancy’s fiancé, Jaylen. Chicago fashion designer Fancy Ballantine (Brandy Norwood) is preparing for the biggest season of her life as she works to secure the future of her thriving boutique while planning her dream Christmas wedding to her fiancé, Jaylen (Robert C. Riley). With her supportive mother, Evelyn (Debbi Morgan), and spirited sister, Belle (Sy’rai Smith), by her side, everything seems to be falling into place. But when mounting business pressures and the unexpected return of a reformed ex lead Fancy to shoulder every burden on her own, she unintentionally pushes Jaylen away. As Christmas approaches, Fancy must decide whether she’s willing to let go of the past before it costs her the future she’s always dreamed of. Also returning to reprise their roles are Kajuana S. Marie as Deena, Journey Carter as Tia, Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman as Germaine, and Lamman Rucker as Richard. Gregory Alan Williams joins the cast as Earl.
Disney+ and Hulu announced a video podcasting deal with iHeartMedia for six iHeartPodcasts titles, beginning with Hey Jonas! on Disney+ and Hulu streaming August 14. Adding to its growing slate of licensed, rewatch, and companion podcasts, the collaboration will also bring video editions of iHeartPodcasts’ Pod Meets World to Disney+ as well as Desperately Devoted, Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald, StraightioLab, and Thanks Dad with Ego Nwodim to Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the U.S. in the coming months. New episodes will stream weekly across all podcasts.
discovery+ is rolling out channels across all devices and tiers in the U.S. on its app and website. Ted Lasso streams Wednesdays on Apple TV. In season four, Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women’s football team.
