Hulu has renewed How I Met Your Father for a second season. The new season will consist of 20 episodes, doubling the first season order. In the near future, Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the year 2022 where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options. The series stars Hilary Duff, Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Suraj Sharma, Tom Ainsley and Tien Tran.
HBO’s Barry returns for its third season starting April 24. Desperate to leave his violent past behind in favor of his newfound passion, Barry is attempting to untangle himself from the world of contract killing and fully immerse himself in acting. But getting out is messy. While Barry has eliminated many of the external factors that pushed him towards violence, he soon discovers they weren’t the only forces at play.
Halo has been renewed for a second season at Paramount+ ahead of its first season premiere. Premiering March 24, the series dramatizes an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. It will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.
Paramount+ has ordered a SEAL Team movie, expanding the SEAL Team universe. The standalone movie will come from the series creative team of David Boreanaz, Christopher Chulack and Spencer Hudnut.
ABC is pulling new series Promised Land from the schedule after episode five airs February 21. The final five episodes of the season will instead air on hulu beginning March 1. The Good Doctor will return earlier with its midseason premiere February 28.
Additional episodes of 1883 have been ordered at Paramount+, expanding its current first season. Additionally, a new Yellowstone prequel spinoff series has been ordered titled 1932. It will follow a new generation of Duttons during the time of western expansion, Prohibition and the Great Depression.
The Amber Ruffin Show returns with new episodes on Peacock February 25. The late night series showcases Amber’s signature smart and silly take on the week’s news. No matter what’s happening in the world, Amber responds to it with a charming mix of seriousness, nonsense, and evening gowns.
Paramount+ has ordered an international NCIS series titled NCIS: Sydney. Premiering in 2023, the series will feature local stories with Aussie actors and producers and be filmed in one of the world’s most scenic harbor cities.
HBO Max’s Julia will premiere March 31 with three episodes. The eight episode season is inspired by Julia Child’s extraordinary life and her long-running television series, The French Chef, which pioneered the modern cooking show. Through Julia’s life and her singular joie de vivre, the series explores a pivotal time in American history – the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism and the women’s movement, the nature of celebrity and America’s cultural evolution. At its heart, the series is a portrait of a loving marriage with a shifting power dynamic.
Paramount+ has renewed RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, Queen of the Universe, The Real World Homecoming: New Orleans, and The Challenge: All Stars for new seasons. The streamer also ordered new reality series The Challenge: War of the Worlds, Ink Master, and All Star Shore. International series Acapulco Shore, Rio Shore, and Geordie Shore: Return of the OGs have been renewed. The Challenge will also be expanding with a series on CBS titled The Challenge: CBS. Argentina, Australia and the UK will also be airing local the Challenge series.
USA Network’s Temptation Island returns for season four March 16. Four new couples at a crossroads in their relationship head to Maui, Hawaii to put their love to the test. Joined by 24 sexy single men and women looking to find everlasting love, these couples must decide whether to commit to a lifetime together – or if they will ultimately give in to the temptation from the singles looking to find “the one.”
Billy Bob Thornton is set to star in Parmaount+’s upcoming new series from Taylor Sheridan titled Land Man. The series is based on the podcast “Boomtown” and is set in the proverbial boomtowns of West-Texas and is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires that are fueling a boom so big it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.
Pieces of Her premieres on Netflix March 4. Based on Karin Slaughter’s novel, in a sleepy Georgia town a random act of violence sets off an unexpected chain of events for 30-year-old Andy Oliver and her mother Laura. Desperate for answers, Andy embarks on a dangerous journey across America, drawing her towards the dark, hidden heart of her family.
E!’s new docuseries Welcome Home Nikki Glaser? will premiere May 1. Uprooted from her fast-paced Hollywood lifestyle, Nikki returns to St. Louis where she embarks on a hilarious and often uncomfortable journey of self-discovery. In the midst of her chaotic move, Nikki leans heavily on her parents Julie and EJ Glaser, her childhood bestie Kerstin Robertson, her platonic roommate Andrew Collin, and even her ex-boyfriend Chris Convy. As a big fish in a small pond, Nikki also experiences a comedy of errors as she struggles to find love.
Paramount+’s Teen Wolf The Movie will be bringing back many original stars. The film will include Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig, and Crystal Reed, Set to Reprise Their Iconic Roles Alongside Orny Adams, Linden Ashby, JR Bourne, Seth Gilliam, Colton Haynes, Ryan Kelley, Melissa Ponzio and Dylan Sprayberry. Dylan O’Brien and Arden Cho will not be returning. Cho reportedly was offered half the pay of her fellow actors and chose not to return. Know your value.
The Beavis and Butt-Head series originally set up at Comedy Central will now premiere on Paramount+. Additionally the full library of 200+ classic remastered episodes are heading to the streamer.
Peacock has ordered A Friend of the Family straight to series. The crime drama limited series will star Anna Paquin, Jake Lacy, Colin Hanks and Lio Tipton. The series is based on the harrowing true story of the Broberg family, whose daughter Jan was kidnapped multiple times over a period of years by a charismatic, obsessed family “friend.”
Billions has been renewed for season seven at Showtime. The sixth season is currently airing on Sundays.
Paramount+ regains global streaming rights to the full catalog of South Park in 2025. The series can currently be streamed on HBO Max.
Zoe Saldaña is set to star in Paramount+’s upcoming new series from Taylor Sheridan titled Lioness. The series is based on a real-life CIA program and follows a Marine recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist to bring the organization down from within.
HBO’s new drama series The Time Traveler’s Wife will premiere this spring. The six episode first season is an adaptation of the book by Audrey Niffenegger and follows an intricate and magical love story. The series stars Rose Leslie, Theo James, Desmin Borges, and Natasha Lopez.
Paramount+ has ordered a new Dora The Explorer series. The CG animated series will feature the beloved characters, plus key modernization to the storytelling. It will debut in 2023. A live action Dora The Explorer series has also been ordered, geared for older children. It will target tweens. A Sonic the Hedgehog Movie spinoff series is also coming to paramount+. The series will focus on Knuckles, voiced by Idris Elba.
Apple TV+ has ordered The Dynasty to series. The ten episode docuseries is based on the book by Jeff Benedict and covers the New England Patriots. Benedict spent two years inside the organization, and chronicled the rise and historic 20-year run of the Patriots during the Brady-Belichick-Kraft era.
ViacomCBS will be rebranding as Paramount Global, Paramount for short beginning February 16. The move reflects the brands consolidation behind the Paramount brand with the streamer and other network properties. Showtime series will also begin to be available on Paramount+ for an extra fee, instead of having to change streamers to watch their content. The standalone Showtime service will remain.
Limited series We Own This City will premiere on HBO April 25. The six episode series is based on the book by Justin Fenton and chronicles the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force and the corruption and moral collapse that befell an American city in which the policies of drug prohibition and mass arrest were championed at the expense of actual police work.
Showtime has renewed anthology series Super Pumped for a second season. It will be based on Mike Isaac’s book which dives into Facebook’s transition from groundbreaking startup to the power it has become. The new season will focus on the relationship at the center of that metamorphosis – between Sheryl Sandberg and Mark Zuckerberg – and the world-changing forces unleashed, intentionally and unintentionally, as a result. The first season, Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber premieres February 27.
Fox is developing an animated adaptation of Berkeley Breathed’s comic strip Bloom Country. The series centers on a collapsed lawyer, a lobotomized cat and a penguin in briefs and fruit headwear living in the world’s last boarding house in the world’s most forgotten place deep in the dandelion wilds of FlyWayWayOver country.
The 57th Academy of Country Music Awards will air live on Prime Video March 7. The two hour show will air without commercials and will be hosted by Dolly parton with Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett serving as co-hosts. Kelsea Ballerini, Walker Hayes, Maren Morris, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, Parmalee & Blanco Brown featuring Brooke Eden, Carly Pearce & Ashley McBryde will all be performing.
Docuseries Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives. premieres on Netflix March 16. Millions of dollars, immortal dogs, meat suits, and secrets lead to a twisted tale of love turned criminal.
Standing Up premieres on Netflix March 18. In Paris, four young comedians, Nezir, Aïssatou, Bling and Apolline chase their dreams of stand-up glory while juggling financial pressures, family tensions and romantic adventures. Between their doubts, their jokes and their courage, they will do anything to be successful at stand-up.
Downton Abbey: A New Era will be in theaters May 20. The followup movie to the first film and previous successful series has been delayed twice.
